And another thing-- Viewing him solely as a troll strikes me as odd, because trolls typically possess neither talent nor a coherent argument. And if they have an entertainment value, it's rarely ever for anyone other than themselves.

I liked the guy. Oddly enough, I found him to be less of an insufferable prick than most of his atheist contemporaries. Dawkins annoys the shit out of me.

I sort of wonder how he'll be looked at in the years to come. He had such an eloquence about him in his speech and manor. Granted it was rather belligerent in tone and delivery however the points he made were so well presented. Granted, there are a few things that I didn't agree with that he put forth that I was able to rebuke however, not so much when it came to religion. He was the one person who was able to cement whatever nebulous thoughts I had about life the universe and everything, better than any other individual. It lead me to a heightened level of understanding that I'm not sure I would have otherwise came to.

When I read and hear people over simplifying the guy, it just makes me laugh, adding weight to so many of the points he's made throughout his career. The fact that he was out there debating to select audiences on a rather regular basis should be enough to show anyone with critical thinking that he was a little more layered than a simple troll.
