It's kind of fucked up. 2011 flew by. I don't remember a whole bunch of great events. There were problems being compounded, on that we can agree. I guess if you were into protesting or rioting or some combination thereof this was your year.
09 was pretty terrible for a lot of people, because they had realized 08 was really just the beginning. Whenever my parents complained about the 1980s and Reagan I thought, "man I'll never have a point of reference for something that bleak".
Well, here we are. In the final days of 09 I remember praying it wouldn't be as bad in 2010 and wouldn't you know it America kinda does its thing. Saw some dudes sleeping under a bridge a few weeks ago. I thought, holy shit my fingertips feel like shit in this cold. They got nothing. Man, it's gonna be weird as hell seeing that en masse! Here's to the continuance of the new normal, and that the events of that John Cusack movie don't come to pass! Get your foodstamps, it's gonna be cold as fuck.

The sheer fact that SOPA and NDAA was on the floor and actually have more chances for success than not is an eye-opener to the status of this country. Not the Government, but the people. We are sitting on our Internets, donating maybe, even go out and protesting - but all in all, were just kinda fucked.
