Ive been using the crossbow 24/7 because it does nice damage
The Mona Laser has great range before fall off damage occurs. Usually this means he can hit turrets from a very safe distance. It also has splash damage, which means if you shoot a shady, chances are you'll kill the slims right next to it.
The laser charges up a heal based on the damage done. Usually a single shot gives the laser 7-9% of a charge. The alt fire actually uses the heal. The heal is pretty mild unless it's at 100%. Imagine at level 1 the heal healing for 50hp at 50% charge. This means at 99% it would heal for 99hp. At 100% it gets a boost, so at 100% it will heal for 300hp. This all scales with level and the heal can crit. The heal heals your entire team, and yourself from anyway across the map. Because of how crits work in this game, if the heal crits for one teammates it crits for all teammates.
The damage itself on the laser is good, so using it to snip runaway pros is actually really easy to accomplish. You could probably kill an unarmored enforcer in 6 or 7 shots.
There is a sweet spot you'll want to try to find. It's the point where the enemy team is going to start trying to hold the annihilator. Basically what you want to do is time it so the Fuji you just bought will be making it to enemy territory just as the other pros are starting to hold the anni.
An uncontested Leo can take out turrets insanely fast. I've personally taken the entire left lane on Downtown Spunky before the first anni went up, because no one was there to stop me. Of course the moment I got the money ball down, or the moment the anni was used, I dropped my turret to get out of there because I knew that even though I can push to the money ball, I certainly can't hold it by myself.
So the heal is global?
When is a good time for xbow, on turrets or pushing lanes?

The entire game our gunner was being super passive aggressive at me for not coming to his aid anything he needed help. Which of course is ironic consider that both of my deaths were when I tried to help him. Some people just don't understand that A)When we've lost the annihilator I'm not going to throw my corpse at the damn thing to hold them off that extra half a second, and B) Leo is not a Pro killer, especially not in the Jungle.
when your heal is fully charged and you don't need it at the moment?
I only use the xbow when I'm actually near the anni and the other team is clustered up and I've got juice. That's it. Maybe if there is a large cluster of bots hitting our rocket turret and I've got juice. I guess I only use it when I have juice.
The Mona Laser works better on turrets because it gives you the same damage but you get the safe distance out of it, plus you're getting that heal charged up.

But there aren't a whole lot of turrets in this game that you would need any more range than the laser currently gives. Plus, when using the laser, the heal charges up.
You could need more range if you got pain in the ass enemy pros guarding the turret making getting too close is a bad idea. Also you can snipe one of the turrets in loco moco from really far away on top of the anni, which is always fun.
But aside from that, shoot the moon keeps you alive and the disk can single handedly stop a jackbot push at higher levels. Just awesome.
Note that I've never once played as Megabeth, only against her.
But you're right, there's not really a reason to level it for normal Megs play.
However, some people swear by "Megablade" a playstyle where you treat her like a commando and you focus on WD and StM. Shoot the Moon is used as an engagement skill rather than an escape and, like a commando, you focus on easy backline targets to surprise and quickly mow down.
I have never actually seen a successful megablade player, but a decent number of people discuss it on the official forum and even the devs mentioned it as an example of unexpected emergent gameplay in one of those livestreams they've done.

Apparently, Leo's heal charge is based on distance to target instead of damage. This way he'd charge at the same rate at max level. So when they buffed his range, they did it so he'd be able to charge his heal more efficiently without making himself so vulnerable. So they'll be correcting that buff this week.

I've been put into 2 balanced matches since last monday, and over 25 stomps with terrible terrible teammates.
IDK if it was the influx of people from the destructoid thing, or if they just broke the matchmaking, but I've been enraged more by this game in the last week than I ever have by any other game combined.

every day I've fired it up thinking "it was a fluke, it'll be playable this time" only to be seeing red 20 minutes later.

Guess it wasn't a premade.
But I only play one or two rounds a night...
I hope it's better for you later.

I love the fact that k/d can be pretty meh and I can still be fairly certain that I strongly contributed to the win by pushing constantly and spawning all those bots. Really enjoying the more moba playstyle in this one. And I'll be completely honest, its cause I'm just not that great a shot. And having the option to focus on pushing and defending makes the game so much better.
I've been body blocking our turret so often lately. It's the only thing I can do as megabeth against an opposing megabeth. Wish I could dervish knockback the rockets

Fix your fucking shit, Uber.
but my simple "I'm quitting because the game isn't fun anymore" thread was locked immediately
if only I had gone with "omfgee!! teh matchmaking suckxors hardcore" it would've been a 5 page thread with a dev response.

I had the most cash of anyone, but I get the team whose combined total kills couldn't match mine. The Leo was the only worthwhile person on my team, and even he fed.
This game blew it's one chance. Fucking blew it. I may come back if the notes today say "MATCHMAKER ACTUALLY WORKS," but people are quitting in droves. What is there left to matchmake with?
Why would you make a thread to say you're quitting? What good is that other than just getting attention from people who will either say:
A) Don't do that, this game is awesome
or
B) Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
There have been about 10 "I'm quitting forever" threads created per day and they serve no discussion related purpose.
and
2. despite everything, I still love the game and think providing civil feedback is the best way to get them to fix it.
SWTOR: Allanna (Shadowlands) / TSW: Sara-Luna
But giving them the ultimatum of "fix this or I'm never coming back" isn't really civil.

But I do feel for you, and everyone else who isn't get matched well.
