Whoever used my internet name in the 90's was a translator of japanese cartoons and I occasionally get e-mails from random people in broken english asking me to translate their stuff.

Hello job thread!

I am currently living in Purgatory. Somewhere on the bottom level of the mountain, near the prideful with their heavy stones. I have a job that, in theory, is my dream job, but I'm not getting paid enough to make a living off of it. My wages are also less than what was originally advertised. So I'm also looking for a new job, which I have the time to do since my current job is freelance.

I had a second job for a while. I'd always have at least two missed calls from my "real" boss (at my main job) by the time I got off for the night at my second job. And I started getting so bad at my main job from lack of sleep that my "real" boss made me quit my second job. It was then that he finally realized how I much I do beyond the 9-to-5 hours that I supposedly work.

I wasn't exactly working that second job for my health, though. I always get super pissed when he makes some snide comment about my current lifestyle.

Minus: next week I'm working mon-fri at my second job, which means I get only one day off

Plus: that means that I have that following weekend off, though - and the next week I only work thurs-sat shifts!

I really do love how deserted everything is during holidays at the office. Just, no ones around except for a couple of people in offices or cubicles. it's like when you go to "back to school" nights and the school campus looks totally different without sunlight and student's all over the place.

My 9-month contract ends next month (Feb), and still no formal word on renewal. Boss dude keeps talking like it's a sure thing - "We'll need to get you trained on that," - and other positive comments from two boss levels up, but still would like it official. I've asked him about 80% directly, and he keeps giving me the same almost-answer.

OKAY! So i need a few things. One is help with a resume, because holy shit I've been out of it for a long time and now I'm finally ready to create a resume and get a big boy job. The next is help with a situation at my current employer!. Basically I've been a full time employee for the last 4 months, and today I was pulled in to a room with my Supervisor and another manager and told. "So you've been full time for the last 4 months, this was an accident we are putting you back to part time sucks to be you[sic]". I'm pretty sure that this isn't something they can just... do. He also decided to mention i would lose my health benefits. Oh these lovely health benefits that have helped me in the past 1 months from "completely fucked I don't know if I'm going to be alive by summer" to "I'm actually doing okay maybe I won't die!". Other than a human interest piece I understand I can file a civil suit, and I need to get in touch with a lawyer. Queue needing a good lawyer. My employer's HR is pretty notorious for being assfuckers when it comes to disputes between management and workers, because HR is there to protect the company from being sued, not the employee.

Who wants to help! I have a more indepth explanation uploaded to googledocs and I'm still writing it... I just am so at a loss right now I'm on the verge of a break down.

later today, as in monday january 2nd 2012, i will be seeing about getting my last paycheck

it isn't much, a pittance, certainly less than $70, probably more like $50. my manager turned the payroll book back into the owner, and my manager has since been dodging me trying to get the owner's contact information.

i will get that fucking check. it ain't about the money. it's about the principle of the matter. i work, you pay. unless for some reason we have an arrangement where i work for no pay, which is pretty much exclusively friends or family, which the owner is definitely not.

i will not rest until i collect. and then? applications for bar jobs. i miss flirting with pretty girls and busting knuckleheads more than i thought i would.

edit: i think part of that was the rush i got last night when some stray girl in the street ran up to me after i was leaving a party asking if i could help her, because some guy was being drunk and mean to her, and she wanted to wait until he went back in the house. when asked why, she said she didn't want to him to start a fight. the prospect of a fight perked me right up and so we hooked elbows and started our way back to my place while she arranged for a ride to pick her up, and said asshole was pretty quiet as we walked by, but was rather bold as he drove by later yelling fuck you out the window

needless to say, i was disappointed.
