    Basically once "the party" decides on their next course, Beau is going to quit the New Quartz Militia and offer his service as a scout/guide to parts (potentially) unknown.
    Ehhhh, full on quitting might be extreme.

    Cerulean City would be cool. Maybe there's a big library there or something about legendary Pokemon where we can do some research?

    Marsh, would we know of any towns famous for a big library or anything like that? Besides Malachite, I mean.

    Cobalt Springs is rather different from Cerulean City. Mostly in that its not exactly a city, or even a town.

    Hematitians, and probably Beau from his wandering, would likely know that Cobalt Springs is a large wetland prairie, primarily inhabited by various tribal types (Dalinda is a typical Cobalt native) who occasionally gather in small fiefs, but mostly practice hunter-gathering or animal herding of some stripe or another. National pastimes include stealing livestock, harboring grudges against your neighbors for stealing your livestock, offering tremendous hospitality to visitors, and handing out embarrassing defeats to invaders.

    Not the best place to find impressive libraries, but perhaps good for other things. For one, the area barely even noticed the war that crippled the other great Kanto economies.

    ~Meteo Caves~ :whistle:
    Elise

    (Zeal's Loyalty improved to Devoted!)
    (Ducky's Loyalty improved to Friendly!)

    Elise easily locates one of the many nearby entrances to Mt. Meteo's cave system, the rubble-strewn pathways and blasted entrances giving way to the memorable murk and alabaster white rock of the caverns underneath New Quartz's Cliffside.

    The domain that once murmured quietly to the distant tune of flowing water is now a choir of aqueous echoes, the bountiful splash and drip of spring water coming from underfoot, overhead, and all directions at once. The lengthy damming up of the New Quartz Springs and their violent discharge has apparently served to reroute the springs and streams of the mountain, the new-found rivulets hungrily carving into the soft Mt. Meteo stone with abandon, chiseling out scores of new creeks and currents, bubbling up into crystal clear pools, and misting through the chilly subterranean air.

    The native Pokemon, as always, have handily adjusted to the changes. Many of the previously surface-dwelling Water Types of New Quartz have found the new environment much to their liking, and many of them are in evidence here, exploring their new abodes. The native zubat hardly seem to have noticed the influx of water, and continue flitting in between the stalactites and dodging behind waterfalls as they glide near the cave's ceilings. The common Geodude of the area is a lot less ambivalent about the situation, but even these Rocky Pokemon can still be seen, clambering along walls or using their powerful arms to hang overhead and swing from stalactite to stalactite to avoid the water below as they seek out drier caves to call home.

    Even other, strange Pokemon have seen fit to take advantage of the sudden change in clime. Neither native nor outsider, but something altogether new, or perhaps very, very old and just now reawakening. One such creature peeks at Elise from the bottom of a pool with red, glowing eyes from underneath a brown body like a polished stone. Moments later it scuttles away, six yellow claws carrying it down into a tiny tunnel beneath the water and out of sight.

    What's Elise looking for here?

    ~Mt. Meteo~
    Makai & Co.

    The ninja and his pals begin clearing the rubble away from the snapping, red claw. It doesn't take long for the trio's efforts to have effect, as the unburdened Scizor pushes up through the last few layers of rock, shedding a cloud of dry soil and a short hail of stones.

    Gasping, the Steel Type stands protectively over a small cavity revealed beneath it. Hunched within is the easily recognized form of Zenjiro Inuyagi, his armor badly stoved in and encrusted with dust and soot.

    ~New Quartz Town~
    Tanaka

    Tanaka sets out to track down Tullius, but New Quartz isn't exactly a tiny town, nor is it the easiest place to search by oneself now that near half of it is flattened and the other half seethes with the aftermath of siege and battle. Though convenience always seemed to bring him back to his allies when he needed it beforehand, destiny currently seems to be conspiring against such happenstance.

    Or is it?

    Anyway, if the venerable monk is keen on changing his fortunes, he might yet recall the Praetor's cordial relationship with the Rickbacker family, and decide to seek out his quarry in the Cliffside residences, either to locate Tullius predictably currying the favor of the powers that be, or if that fails simply enlisting the ruling body into giving him a hand in his search. He's probably owed a favor or two what with the whole 'saving the town' thing.

    Alternately, he could appeal to some more familiar faces for some aid. As distasteful as the business may be, the Inuyagi clan are undeniably expert dealers in information and rumor, and even in the recent trying circumstances are likely the center of an impressive web of ears to the ground, fingers to the wind, and eyes to the sky. If anyone could track down a wayward Praetor in record time, it would likely be the keen senses of the resident ninja clan. That Goro fella at the Treasure Hound could probably have him pointed in the right direction in less time than it would take to play a game of mahjong.

    What does Tanaka do?

    ~Rickenbacker Residence~
    Tullius & Co.

    Unsurprisingly, the Rickenbacker's cliffside abode is swamped with nobles, military, representatives from the Artificers' District, all seeking an audience for their concerns and complaints following the town's ordeal.

    As soon as Tullius and his military escort show up, however, they is near instantly diverted from the queue leading into the Rickenbacker's residence by a servant, and smoothly led along the line ahead flabbergasted nobles, past the guards, and into the house.

    Lucius gives a low whistle as the trio follow the guiding servant down a cavernous hallway. "Impressive," the man whispers, raising his eyebrows at Tullius.

    Reaching a waiting room and left to their own devices by the departing servant, the two soldiers prepare to take a chair but before they can even put bum to seat the double doors open once more and the servant beckons them all onward. Even Decius seems a shade piqued now, the lieutenant sharing a mirrored look of interest with Lucius. The two nonetheless follow Tullius onward and through the doorway, the servant bowing and closing the door behind him with a click.

    "Praetor Tullius," Eric Rickenbacker says brightly, standing up from his chair behind his desk and smiling warmly despite his obvious exhaustion.

    "A pleasure to see you," he continues, nodding towards the Praetor's escort. "And your allies..?"

    "...really? Nothing?" Alice frowns. "Well, thanks for your time."

    As the guard strolls away, the merchant lets out another sigh. There's gotta be someone around here who knows where that eastern emissary came from. Someone with that many tattoos doesn't disappear easily...twice, anyways. She'd been dressed kind of like the local nobles, soooo, maybe one of them would have a better idea? There's a bunch of them hanging around the Rickenbacker place. That seems like a good place to continue the search.

    Making her way to the crowded noble manse, Alice questions the assorted hangers-on about the whereabouts of the woman from across the mountains.

    Tullius bows low. "It is my honor to introduce to you, Lieutenant Decius and his second, Lucius of the Hematite Second Aerial." Decius and Lucius offer military salutes in lieu of their own bows, pounding once on their chest with their right hand before saluting. "Our message to my people was received. Though it was perhaps too late to aid in the defense of the city, they are here and stand ready to aid in the defense of New Quartz while the city is repaired."

    Lucius flashes a quick smile, but a smack on the shoulder from Decius brings him back to attention.

    Tullius stands. "Now, I know you are concerned about a method of repayment for such a generous offer. It is no man who wishes to be indebted to his neighbors. I understand that your coffers will be stretched thin with reparations to the city, and so I offer a suggestion. Hematite possesses substantial mining interests, and I am certain the explosive material used in your so-called Dragons would be of benefit in excavation. If you could provide a supply to Hematite, we could consider this matter closed."

    At this time, led there by the Rickenbacker servant, that Tanaka appears in the doorway behind them. Tullius hears the footsteps and turns. "Ah, Tanaka! How are you?" He thinks for a second. "Oh, I think I know why you're here." He opens his codex and presses down upon a page, summoning forth Perseus.

    It occurred to me this week that Decius and Lucius are basically Vorenus and Pullo from the HBO series Rome. Which makes it confusing since Vorenus's first name is Lucius but whatever.

    Elise

    Elise pushes onward, the gentle glow of light ahead of her eventually resolving into an exit from the cave. Her eyes slowly adjusting from the darkness of Mt. Meteo, she gradually makes out a crater-like depression, open to the elements but surrounded on each side by steep, rocky walls.

    The odd geological feature is a couple hundred feet across, and apparently quite old, from the age of the trees scattered about its edges. Where the ground isn't covered with grass and wildflowers, it's revealed to be composed of a rather dark gray sand, very distinctive from the usual light colored minerals of Mt. Meteo.

    At the lowest point of the basin, a pool of water has collected, its edges thick with aquatic plant life. On the shore is a spherical pink creature, about two feet tall, swaying gently in the wind in time with the cattails growing nearby, its somewhat reedy voice raised in a wordless, but strangely soothing, melody:whistle: that echoes through the area.

    ~Mt. Meteo~
    Makai & Co.

    Makai's shout quickly gathers an audience of Malachitians, as well as a few Inuyagi ninja who must have been hanging around for some reason.

    Any attempts to recover the fallen Jonin hit a roadblock when it seems that the Scizor has no intention whatsoever of allowing anyone or anything near his master, its claws snapping viciously at anyone who gets near while it hisses and buzzes its wings in warning.

    ~Cliffside~
    Alice

    Alice gets quickly clued in that as a visitor, much like her own group, the visiting Cobalt noble was granted some living quarters on the Cliffside. To her potential annoyance, it seems like the woman has been lodged in a neighboring suite this entire time, funny how no one noticed that.

    ~New Quartz Town~
    Tanaka

    The servant replies in the affirmative, adding that not only is Tullius around, he's currently meeting with Eric Rickenbacker.

    Assuming Tanaka is okay with interrupting the meeting, than that thing that Tullius said happened, happens.

    ~Rickenbacker Residence~
    Tullius & Co. (and Tanaka)

    Tullius' offer seems to heap yet more exhaustion on the young Rickenbacker's shoulders and, bowing under the pressure, he slumps into his chair, pinching at the bridge of his nose.

    "I will consider your generous proposal" he replies, wearily, as Tanaka enters (assuming he does).

    Alice thought the woman's Quartzite dress might mean she had an closer in with the nobles, but this makes sense too. She's not stupid shut up jerk brain. Heading back the way she came, the merchant finally arrives at the neighboring house. Taking a moment to rummage through what little remains of her supplies, she draws out a bottle of... apple cider or something? She probably should have checked this first.

    The door is soon answered by Miss Dalinda, though Alice notes she's exchanged the New Quartzian duds for a far more rustic looking ensemble mostly consisting of buckskin pants, knee high boots, and a poncho with some lovely beadwork. Presumably there's also a shirt under the poncho, but you never know with these foreign types.

    "Oh! good day," the woman replies as she pulls the door open, her Raichu peering cautiously from around the door jamb. "Please, come inside!"

    Edmond, Bravo, and Sierra
    Edmond closed the old book with a heavy sigh. Dozens of books from Sir Griffin and Lady Quince's libraries, and nothing on that Primal, and nothing that would match the description of a "Lady of Shade," "She who we shackled", "The first to know death." For a moment, he leaned back in his chair, but he quickly decided on an alternate method of expressing disappointment and put his head down on the library table.
    The first day after the battle, he spent in a makeshift hospital, recuperating from a concussion. Meanwhile, Sierra scrawled up a briefing on what the primal had said for Edmond to read. Second day, with Edmond caught up, he got permission to enter Sir Griffin's Library. Third, Lady Quinces, and both times the three of them would gather Pokemon Encyclopedias, compilations of legends, and academic analyses of the former. Well, the three of them would find them, Edmond would gather them. Jaws, claws, and expensive books don't mix. What he lacked in natural linguistic capabilities, he made up for in goddamn opposeable thumbs. They'd open the book, find the sections that were definitely relevant, read them, and then skim the sections that weren't. They were going to report what they'd been told, but they were going to do their damn research first. And yet, they'd found nothing.
    Maybe later they'd see if they could get in again, do an exhaustive search, but that'd be inefficient. They still had someplace they could still check. He lifted his head up, and turned to his two companions sitting next to the book on the table.
    "Bluh...." he leaned back again. "Well... I guess we should head to the Spore Caverns then?"
    A simultaneous chirp, bark, and a pair of nods.
    Edmond grunted back. He stood up, and the two 'Mons jumped off the table, Sierra taking to a few meters off the ground. With the help of the aide on duty, they put their books back and headed out of the library.

"And hey to you too," she says, making sure to stoop and greet the Raichu as well before turning back to her host. "Just thought I'd stop by and thank you for your help back on the wall," she begins, proffering the cider, "since I don't think my, uh, companion ever dropped in to thank you himself. I mean, not that he didn't mean to, or anything. Things just got a little busy the last few days here, and, well, you know how kids are. Just sort of ignore anything that doesn't kill 'em."

    She pauses, feeling she's forgotten something. Oh, right. "Ah. Name's Alice, by the way," she mutters, grinning sheepishly.

    He returns Iktomi and Roscoe to their apricorns and does a fancy ninja hand gesture at Fenrir. The growling hellhound reluctantly accepts and backs away.

    Makai holds aloft his {Amakusa Amulet} in one hand the vial he received from Zenjiro in the other. "Hey now buddy, I'm not here to hurt him." He speaks softly, and steps forward slightly. "I just want to make sure he's okay. We're cool, remember?" His eyes desperately plead with the Scizor to understand.

    There's a pregnant pause as he waits for an anwser.

    After a minute he falls to his knees and a sign of submission and whispers,

    "Flame Charge."

    A speeding ball of fur and flame leaps off his master's back and collides with the Scizor. As both pokemon go flying backwards, Makai quickly goes to Zenjiro, cuts him free of his armor, and hoists him into a fireman's carry. "ANYONE OF YOUSE JERKS A MEDIC!!!" he screams as he takes off towards Quartz without looking back.

    You said you don't need to make an appointment to visit the Spore Caverns, right?

    Correct. The Spore Caverns are just another part of Mt. Meteo (though from Gigen's half-assed interrogation of some local Paras, it seems like it might not connect to any of the other caves and is just its own, self-enclosed thing).

    The main thing stopping people from dropping in all the time is the atmosphere in the caves is choking with spores, some of which are a shade poisonous, and the monks tend to hang out in the harder to reach parts, where the spores are all the nastier. This tends to lead to pretty short lifespans among the monks, but they don't seem to care much about that.

    The monks don't seem to have much of a hierarchy, or much organization, so its a simple matter to just stop by, find one of them, and chat for as long as you can take the irritation (whether that's from the spores, or from the nonchalant attitudes of the monks).

    Alice

    The woman accepts the Cider graciously, her Raichu acknowledging Alice's greeting with a small bow. "Dalinda Marybelle," the tattooed noble replies, introducing herself with a nod. "But just Dalinda is fine."

    "So how about those soldiers outside the town?" she asks while walking over to one of her room's tables. "Malachitians, right? That's what I've heard," she continues, completely unable to hide the hunger for confirmation in her voice. She was the one who really, really wanted to go study at the Academy in Malachite, right? Right.

    ~Mt. Meteo~ :whistle:
    Makai & Co.

    Makai takes off and covers so much ground, so quickly, the sprinting Malachitians hustling over to help are forced to turnabout and start sprinting the other way after him when the Ninja swishes past, Zenjiro hauled over his shoulder.

    Safely free from the Pokemon engagement currently developing behind him, Makai's adrenalin rush slowly begins to taper off, the grey-cloaked Scouts finally able to catch up, breathing hard. A slim Inuyagi clan member materializes out of the growing crowd, his face edged with concern though his voice is commanding and steady.

    "Everyone, make room! You two," he says, addressing the Scouts. "Cloaks laid out on the ground." Fumbling with the clasps, the two Malachite soldiers get their cloaks undone and lay them flat on the rocky ground, creating a makeshift pallet. The Inuyagi turns to Makai. "Please put him down carefully," he asks, hands held up beseechingly as though the ninja youth was carrying something priceless and fragile, which it seems may be the case.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Fenrir slams into the Scizor in a ball of incandescent heat, driving the Pincer Pokemon back across the harsh Mt. Meteo terrain. The Bug Type's feet scramble for purchase on the loose gravel and scrape across stone as it's borne backwards under the ferocity of the Dark Pokemon's attack. Claws swing wildly as they seek for purchase on the Scizor's foe, eventually clamping tight on Fenrir's muzzle, attempting to force the Pokemon's flaming breath away from its easily-ignited shell.
    Fenrir used Flame Charge!
    Scizor took 2 Stamina and 1 Defense Damage!
    It's Super Effective!
    Its shaking limbs fight against Fenrir's jaws, but are ultimately unable to turn away the canine's blistering attention. The Scizor's armor scorches and blackens, bright, silvery rivulets of molten metal flow over the Pokemon's chest and limbs as its protective coat is blasted away in the immense heat.
    And then it starts glowing. :whistle:
    Crackling bolts of energy scroll and flash across the Scizor's armor. The Steel Type blinks away its furious gaze as its body is slowly enveloped in white light, which soon expands outwards in a sphere, blocking both the Scizor and the blazing Fenrir from view. Moments later, the Fire Type is ejected outward at speed, a pair of out-flung forelegs grasp onto a boulder as he passes, his claws scoring deep lines into the rock as he pivots on the foothold to turn an uncontrolled flight into a predatory crouch, snarling fire.
    The light recedes, and a pair of feet like tapered spikes make contact with a boulder several meters away. The Scizors blue eyes glimmer so brightly that cyan afterimages speckle the vision as its head shudders, and it raises a pair of serrated, toothy claws. The back of its shell flicks open and closed reflexively to reveal mirrored, chrome wings, and its body is studded with additional plates of hardened, black steel.
    "Super pissed" doesn't even begin to describe it. Maybe something more like... Mega pissed.
    It's dangerous new claws jerking out at its sides, the Scizor shrieks at Fenrir across the gap between their perches, its voice like tortured gears and broken glass. The resonance of its cry forces dust out from the cracks of rocks, all but creating a localized sandstorm with the turbulent force of its scream. The cacophonus yell echoes past the hellhound, ruffling his fur like a heavy wind and sending a clatter of loose gravel spinning past his clawed feet.
    Scizor used Screech!
    Fenrir took 2 Defense Damage!
    "Holy shit," one of the Malachite Scouts utters. The two take up a defensive position between Makai, the Inuyagi medic, and the others, simultaneously drawing short swords from their belts.
    ~Mt Meteo~
    Fascinating. This sand must be foreign, she's standing in...an impact site? So that's why they call it Mt. Meteo.
    Schala gurgles happily in song with the strange pokemon. It is quite a catchy tune!
    Elise begins heading down to the crater when she suddenly trips and finds herself not willing to get up...
    She'll just close her eyes for a bit...
    ACRONYM="3"]P[/ACRONYM][ACRONYM="0"]K[/ACRONYM][ACRONYM="3"]M[/ACRONYM][ACRONYM="0"]N[/ACRONYM | Iktomi | Fenrir
    Careful isn't really our hero's strong suit. His previous actions has made this fact abundantly clear. In spite of his reckless nature Makai wises up tries his best at setting Zenjiro down carefully. After setting his cargo down carefully He turns back to the battle raging behind him. What with the transforming, and the shrieking, oh god what have I done.
    "Huh."
    Ears lower, coarse black hairs stand on end. Fenrir instinctively flattens himself against his perch in an attempt to get way from the sonic assault to no avail. The shrieking is felt all the way in his bones. Fenrir glares. This guy is real impressive now, but where was this power when the Legendary attacked? Under a rock like a punk.
    Fenrir is all set to pull on his rage for his next attack when he suddenly notices something. Fear. He can detect it coming off the humans. Once he's aware of this, he becomes aware of a lot of things. He raises his snout and sniffs the air. The left over dread from the Heatran's attack. The selfishness radiating off the Murkrows. The pure hatred and malice radiating off the Scizor. That Scizor. What a jerk. There's gotta be some way to...
    As he thinks of ways to hurt this guy, rivulets of residual dark energy flow into the canine. Fenrir howls balefully, and becomes shrouded in a malevolent miasma of purple and black.
    Beau
    "I'm starting to feel like its time to move on, I never planned to settle down this long. And if there are more of those... legends, and if they're all capable of this... That's a damn good reason to go find em before they do anything.
    One of those guys had his pokemon talking to it, I wonder if he figured anything out. He was dressed like a reservist, I bet I could ask around the barracks and find him. If he's of a like mind, I wanna get on his page."
    It takes a few days to track him down in one of the libraries, but once Beau catches up to Edmond and introduces himself as a fellow militiaman, he learns everything he wanted to know about the conversation with the "Lord of Magma" and about the so called "Lady of Shade."
    Beau offers what tiny sliver of a lead he can.
    "Back when I used to run caravans between Spinel and Hematite, I met an old trader, I mean ancient. He was half out of his mind, but he had quality wares so I humored his conversations. He told me once of the town he grew up in, long long before the war. Well one day, this whole town just gets dark. They can all see the sun, not a cloud in the sky, but there was just a palpable gloom all over town. His family moved out west, never went back, never saw anyone else from that town. He didn't give me a name, didn't say where. But if its real, it certainly sounds like it might be one of these legends causing trouble. There's gotta be a more reliable source for this stuff, found anything solid yet?"
    @cb557 hope I'm not stepping on your toes, just trying to integrate my character into the group.
    @Marshmallow I'm trying really hard not to bring in outside info, but my love of first gen is strong. If I say anything that spoils your plans I'll take it down, and if I'm wrong then awesome.
If we are to defend ourselves against these creatures of legend, we must do it together. What was that colloquialism I recall hearing... ah, yes. Hang together, or hang separately!" he adds with a light chuckle.
    "But I digress... did you have business for the Lord? He seems quite thoroughly exhausted."
    If you just want multiple heads then there's always Dodrio or Dugtrio (technically nobody knows how many more heads it has underground).
    If you want an actual serpent/dragon then yeah, Sock Puppet dragon (best nickname ever).
    Been a little out of sorts the last couple weeks. So it goes.
    @Terrendos @Shock G @JahSassypants @cB557 - You all need any scene setting from me or you moving along okay?
    ~Cliffside~
    Alice
    "Oh my gosh, you would do that?" Dalinda replies, already fairly aflutter with the very idea. "That would be- I mean," she continues, Alice's question finally getting through to her. "I represent Cobalt Springs," she says, not looking terribly certain about her answer. "Or maybe just the Turnbrook settlement? Just the Marybelle family?"
    She shuts up, realizing a bit belatedly she is probably damaging her credibility a bit. "I wasn't exactly... planning on heading back anytime soonish. I'm not sure if 'envoy' would be really the right term, as it were. I do hope this isn't an insurmountable difficulty?"
    ~Mt. Meteo~ :whistle:
    Makai & Co.
    His thoughts wracked with cruel geometries as he ponders the applications of all methods deadly and dishonest, a world of underhanded options unfolds itself before the canine. A selection of malign tools and tactics only the most malevolent of minds could conceive.
    Fenrir used Nasty Plot!
    Fenrir is Focused!
    The Scizor takes no heed of the Dark Type's sinister scheming, continuing to mount its aural assault. The Steel Type's high pitched shriek surges downwards in tone, the dust settling as the screech descends below the resonance of mere earth and stone and begins to seem less like a noise than a physical weight, making Fenrir's midsection throb with unwelcome rhythms and his bones thrum in sympathy with the horrid scream.
    Scizor used Screech!
    Fenrir took 2 Defense Damage!
    The unholy warcry dies out as the Scizor either runs out of breath, or deems his fiery opponent sufficiently weakened for its next move. With a metallic click, the Bug Type's wings unsheathe behind its back, and it raises its claws menacingly.
    Behind Makai, the ninja surgeon looks over Zenjiro with grey eyes and clamped lips. It takes little enough time for the man to reach his conclusion.
    "He's gone," he whispers, almost in disbelief. "He's dead," he repeats more firmly, but choked with an obscure and terrible sorrow.
    Meteo Crater~ :whistle:
    Elise & Co.
    Elise wakes some time later, the black sky and pin-prick stars overhead quickly putting the lie to any notion of a mere short nap. As hot as the cloudless days have been lately, the night is cool, and the grass slick and damp beneath her. In the sky above, the full moon dominates the sky, the brimming, white circle revealed in its cratered totality.
    The darkened crater below provides a neat sense of symmetry with the poised celestial body, the rounded depression capturing the descending moonbeams like cupped hands, while the unbroken surface of the pond in the center offers up its own mirrored reflection in reply.
    As her eyes adjust to the darkness, Elise spots perhaps a dozen or so creatures around the edge of the pool, moving with dance-like coordination as they circle, throwing tiny arms to the sky and chanting plaintively in soft, cooing voices.
    Nah, just wasn't sure if Edmond was still interacting with Beau. Can always just handle things simultaneously, though.
    ~Spore Caves~
    Edmond
    The cliffside entrance to the particle-laden caves of the local monks is as abandoned as usual, the bone-dry and oven-hot atmosphere within proof against all but the most determined of visitors. Torches and candles are a particularly bad idea to carry inside, given the flammable conditions of most of the caverns. However, Edmond understands a small coven of Foongus traditionally congregate in the shadowy corners near the entrance, the half-tame Pokemon said to be more than happy to follow any travelers through the underground grottoes, helpfully shedding their bio-luminescent light to ward away the worst of the darkness.
    All that remains then is to track down one of the reclusive priests in this sprawling demesne, in hopes that this spore-filled hermitage has granted them some insight into the ways of the equally reclusive Pokemon of Legend.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Edmond can wrap up other stuff first if he wants, or just skip ahead to interrogating a spore priest. Let me know what you wanna do.

    I'm tagging along to the spore caves with Edmond, I wanna ask them about the story I made up in my last post.

    Beau

    Looking into the cave, there are visible spores floating in the air. Beau has mixed feeling about this...
    Beau tears a scrap of cloth off the end of his cloak, dampens it with his canteen, and hands it to Edmond.
    "Here, this'll keep your air clean and cool. Spores in here do strange things to a man."
    He repeats the process for himself, then draws out a slip of paper and stick of charcoal.
    "These caves can wind a bit, I'll try to keep track of where we've been."

    Haha, 'plans'.

    Anyway, I haven't had the gen 1 experience in a while, my own Pokemon sweet spot residing somewhere around the 4th gen, so I'm not totally sure what event Beau's story may be based on. Rest assured, regardless, you won't mess anything up by coming up with some rumors and leads to follow, and I won't get irate with anyone interested in flexing their creativity or throwing their own spin on the setting.
