Like, you start off measuring the area of your apartment in feet, but you realize you want to measure this by the length of your dick. You measure your dick is 1.2567 feet. So 1 Winky-Dick = 1.2567 feet. So you're designating a whole as 1.2567 somethings but the math shakes out the same.

    is this

is this how we measure things now

When I parallel park IR tells me how far from the curb I am in dicks. So, yes.

Am I right in thinking that the only way to level things like archery and magic ability in Skyrim is by using them?

It's just that it is phenomenally difficult to kill stuff by either method in the early stages of the game, which means that it's very difficult to play a non-melee character.

Yes. And no, archery is pretty much great throughout. Combine it with sneaking.

Magic is too much of a pain to use on the xbox version so I don't know how that was.

If you're dying too much you can turn the difficulty down though at any time. Generally it's because you levelled up some useless skills accidentally.

Archery is much more useful when sneak-attacking. Also you can increase any skill by talking to a trainer.

Right out of the tutorial dungeon you can get a blessing of magic, stealth, or strength that make those skills level faster. So that helps a ton. And you don't have to kill things with magic to level it, just hit them or cast it in the case of non-damage spells.

Yeah the thief blessing is super useful for increasing your Speech skill. It's glacial with it and doesn't improve without it.

  • thehumandignitythehumandignity Registered User
Yeah, you can level alteration, for instance, by casting water breathing repeatedly while standing in a puddle, or by casting detect life anywhere that people are around.

Archery seems to be OK, but given the game is keen on dungeons you can generally only get off a couple of arrows before whatever you're shooting begins beating you about the head with whatever implement.

Which is a shame because the melee combat system seems to be pretty awful. Or I'm not of a sufficient level yet and am getting the equivalent of "player hits enemy for 0 damage" rolls.

Don't try to do melee and archery. Pick one.

Just run backwards shooting when they rush you. There's no penalty for shooting them in melee range.

Hell no I have to take a different bar exam for this state

that sucks to your assmar. i thought states had like agreements for shit like that? i guess it depends on the states involved. I know they do for stuff like Professional Engineer licenses. I'm thinking about getting one of those.

Professional Engineer licenses wouldn't work either if the laws of physics changed between states.

I got heavy armour, smithing and 1H weapons up to 100 now, so I can beat anything in the game no problem.

Now I just want to get more levels and be challenged, so I leveled sneak to ~80, got bows to 66 and enchanting to ~90. Now I'm also wearing some light armor and a 2H weapon to get those skills. And I guess I should use more magic as well.

I'm level 51, for the record. Don't worry, I'm having fun even without all the min/maxing.

Tend to just get mobbed and/or backed into a corner if I try that. Hmmm.

For reference, I'm pretty near the start of the game:

Hmm. I played that as a sneaky archer no problem. You just go slow and pop arrows into each enemy as you spot them. You'll generally get one hit kills unless it's a boss of some kind.

    Just crank the difficulty down.

I don't get people playing different characters anyway. I just level everything in its own sweet time. My redguard is well underway to be both archmage, master thief, assassin and King of All Barbarians Ever. Also: when I die my soul will be claimed by like 6 different Gods and a whole pack of Daedric princes.

Because that is weird. My argonian assassin and high elf warrior feel more like people because they are different people.
