Just figured I'd weigh in on this and tell how I tend to roll.
If it's appropriate and relevant for a canon character to be involved with the events of the party, they will be at least mentioned. And there will be the option to interact with them.
As in this case, at this point in time, Jabba owns most if not all of the planet. So it's plausible for him to be introduced.
It's not Star Wars otherwise. (to me) anyway.
And that doesn't mean that the game turns into, "And if you look to my right, you can see Han and Chewe making their iconic attack run on Vader's tie fighter."
I believe I said "is starting to sober up".
Edit: There! Jaa will now attempt deceive you all into thinking he is sober. Mwahaha!!!

It's Kark, Barve, or Poodo
Rut / Rutting as used in Firefly is also acceptable. Hell, even Gorram shouldn't sound very jarring.

Jerk-ass is canon!
Perhaps
Yeah, I was looking at that yesterday. Its pretty funny, and awesome. I agree with you though, its just not the same using profanities native to our world, when we are in the Star Wars Galaxy. Now to put them to some good use. There is also a nice section on Star Wars alcoholic beverages, in case anyone cares to order something with some Star Wars RP class.
Of course you'd go straight for the booze

Yes, yes I would.
LOL. I never thought of that...I guess I sort of just accepted that our ship is likely gone.
Lets go get it!!!

I kinda did expect you guys to go to where your ship was docked, because well 1st of all, it wouldn't be in the official imperial spaceport swarming with officials. I'm assuming you wouldn't have parked there on the way in.
2nd, is Jabba likely to know anything about your ship taking off without you in it? Or care, for that matter.
3rd, I did expect you to go to the scene of the crime to get more information on who took it or where they went.
And yes, Gather the Informations.
Gather Info roll on the IC post.

Also, Bear continues to ignore rails and sail straight off into no-man's land. <3
I am enjoying reading this, it's hilarious.

The ship is missing, the empire is looking for the crew, and unlike Obi-Wan and Luke, my character IS the kind of scruffy nerf-herder needed to get off planet quietly.
Either way I am not complaining. Not dealing with the Hutts is fine in his book.

I do not have rails. There are no rails. I do not have a concrete story planned out in the sense that, "Ok, the party have done thing A, now event 1 happens and the only option is for them to go to location Q and see person Zed."
If anything, I have scenes. Or ideas that I think sound cooool.
I just threw out 'yo ship be gone' because it was a way to get off karking Tatooine and out into the galaxy at large, where there are much more interesting things that we can all do together.
Also, one thing I cannot encourage enough, in the pbp-format especially, is flesh out the environment and pull your backstories into the narrative.
Make appropriate references to events that occurred before the game started. Act like a random npc is someone your character knows and has a history with. Act, Don't React (to my posts.)
For example, that 'business-associate' I dropped on Gaan a couple posts back. Kinda the wrong circumstances maybe, but I would have vastly preferred more then a 'thinks Mr. Guy' as a response.
Something like, 'Sure Jarin. Hey, how's your brother, still got that thing with the Imps from Christophsis?"
I promise I will never not enjoy when someone does this or crush their soul for daring to putting their dirty-unwashed fingers in my story cake. I view GM'ing and gaming in general as a shared voyage of discovery, I'm just the man at the tiller.

The Empire clearly gives no fucks abut Jabba, so it's safe to say if there is any Imperial security at the spaceports, they're the people who are so bad at their job that the Empire put them out of the way where they cannot do any harm. They can be bribed, threatened, and murdered and the only thing that will happen is that an Imperial desk clerk somewhere will put a -1 check on his report the next day.
The entire point of Tatooine is that nobody cares what goes on there and you can get away with just about anything.

Info Dump Time or More Then You Ever Wanted to Know About The Bajuuk System And Then Some.
Kutlai is a large gas giant. Almost as large as the primary star of the binary pair, Bajuuk Prime, at the heart of the system. It has twenty-two moons, most of which are little more than semi-molten asteroids captured by the planet's gravity well. Only the fifth moon bears a breathable atmosphere. It is tidally locked to Kutlai, which is itself tidally locked to Bajuuk Prime. Forever bathed in twilight, held in its orbit just beyond the glare of the prime star, most of the natural light that reaches the moon is actually the gas of Kutlai's atmosphere fluorescing from the bombardment of heat and energy it is subjected to constantly. The one outstanding feature that this place boasts is the nature of the light that strikes the moon. The locals call them light storms and they are superheated pockets of gas that race through the atmosphere of Kutlai, crossing the horizon line and becoming visible to the denizens of the moon. Needless to say, the atmosphere of Kutlai is extremely hazardous to one's health; a hazardous environment suit is required to stave off a quick but violent death. Only those that man the mining and research platforms dotting the dark side of the planet brave its inhospitable environment. Due to its location and composition, Kutlai is on the cusp of becoming a star itself. Were this to occur, the entire system could be rendered completely unlivable to sentient life. An ignition of Kutlai would likely spark the same process in Yuath, which might then cause Holuch to combust. Therefore, research stations in all three gas giants are fully dedicated to monitoring the conditions of the three and regulating the atmospheres to stave off any self-sustaining fusion reaction.
Yuath is another gas giant and, compared to Kutlai, positively homey. It posses a breathable atmosphere at high altitude and four large settlements ride the winds near the equator. Other, smaller, habitats dot the atmosphere of the world. There are also whispered rumors that pirates and slavers sometimes use the planet's lower atmosphere as a hiding place. In fact, some say there's another city deep in the clouds and that only those operating wholly outside the law know its location. Like most gas giants, Yuath has a large collection of moons; about half posses breathable atmospheres and all that do are colonized to some degree or another. Overall, the planet itself and its moon system posses a total estimated population of one and a half million sentients. In addition to its moons, Yuath has a rather spectacular set of rings composed of rock and ice. (16 moons, 8 colonized with breathable atmospheres)
Oconal is truly the jewel of the Bajuuk system. An ocean world, many of the islands that dot the surface are privately owned. The planet boasts a population numbering in the millions, between those living on the islands and those that call the floating platform cities home. In a strange, architectural quirk most buildings on the world are built primarily of transparisteel to take full advantage of the planets natural beauty. Even the ocean-bound floating cities use the same material for much of their construction, even going so far as to construct sections of the ground level with transparent floors that peer down into the undersea depths. One of the natural wonders of the world are the many rainstorms and the breathtaking rainbows that often form in the wake of a storm.
Holuch is a gas giant much like others of its type. Its atmosphere is not breathable and a breath mask is required if being in an unfiltered area for any length of time. Like Yuath, it has an ice rings and a large number of moons. Unlike Yuath, it has twice as many moons, all of them are habitable, and only two of the thirty-two require protective garments or breathing aids to venture out into the elements. Making it a wonder like no other in the known galaxy. In fact, many of the moons are planets in their own right, only termed moons because they orbit the even larger gas giant. It is because of this extremely rare occurrence that the entire population of the planet and its moons has been said to rival that of Imperial Center. While this is an exaggeration, it is not much of one. All told, there are three quarters of a trillion sentients on Holuch and its moons. (32 moons, 32 colonized with breathable atmospheres)
Now our journey outward brings us to Dirval. Ah, Dirval. Once a beautiful world, now a shattered ruin. The people of Dirval, as did the entire Bajuuk system, seceded from the old Republic and joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems. When the Republic became the Empire and the bulk of the Separatist systems surrendered to the new Empire, Bajuuk refused. Many Separatist forces flocked to the system, bolstering the system defense force until the combined might of three full fleets (about sixty combat ready capital ships) awaited the Empire's response. What a response, the Empire assaulted the system with over two hundred Star Destroyers. The invading force crushed the Separatist defenders, leaving floating debris fields above Neptol and Dedul. An order from the Emperor himself directed the fleet to use Dirval to send a message to those who would defy the Empire's will. All the remaining star destroyers fired all weapons on the defenseless planet. It cracked Dirval to the core, leaving it completely devastated. Since that bombardment, the atmosphere has boiled away, leaving Dirval a broken shadow and a testament of the Empire's ruthlessness.
The planet Turmed is cold, that's obvious from the first step onplanet. The equator is the warmest, where it can get to subarctic tundra conditions and nearpine forests dominate. Much of the planet is windswept arctic plains, scoured clean of all life. The mountains that exist are relatively new geologic formations, sharp and foreboding. Even though the planet is extremely hostile to sentient life, the world is inhabitated by about two hundred thousand sentients. All but the most foolhardy live in the sealed cities that dot the planet. Some of the cities are constructed wholly underground, either in the windswept plains or deep under frozen mountain peaks. Wherever their location, all share the same basic construction. Every city on the planet has a public park area as near to the exact center as it was possible to construct. Each city landscapes their own park differently. Some may emulate a fairly dry swamp, others may contain a slice of rainforest at their heart, and still others may contain a tropical ocean-front beach.
Dedul is the anomoly of the system. A planet full of prime real-estate and yet almost completely unhabitated, with perhaps twenty people calling the place home. It's the environment that makes the planet inhospitable. The entire planet is covered in dense vegatation, the lowlands are stagnant swamps and the highlands are overgrown jungle. Any structures built on planet tend to be covered in plant growth within a week. Though covered over by old growth, craters from the imperial attack to retake the rebellious system can be seen dotting the surface. Furthermore, remnants of destroyed starships litter the planet's orbit.
Otacun is a hot dry world of deserts, high plains, and mountains. Beneath the surface lies an extremely extensive network of caves, some formed by water erosion, others by the earthquakes that rock the world. The world is extremely active geologically. Volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, earthquakes, and sinkholes pepper the entire planet. Due to the large chance that any one location could experience a destructive geologic event, the cities of Otacun are prepared to become mobile at a moments notice. Many use modular construction that can be broken down and loaded onto heavy transport. Others take the next step, buildings and housing are themselves heavy vehicles, either using tracked propulsion or repulsorlift. With the expansive caves crisscrossing the planet, it is no wonder that rumors would crop up about what the dark spaces beneath the earth may hide. Everything from whole civilizations to smuggler dens, from underground oceans to ancient temples of some lost religion. If it can be named, it's probably been said that a friend of a friend's cousin's brother's uncle saw it deep beneath Otacun's surface.
Neptol is completely devoid of any life. The atmosphere is toxic and air temperatures rarely get above three hundred below zero. The surface of the planet is composed of frozen methane. Its only interesting feature is the trash and battle debris littering its orbitals. It's used as a convenient anchor point for a few space stations that cater to the needs of spacers just passing through, saving them a longer trip in-system for resupply or other needs.

Not a bad point about giving IC reasons to move towards the spaceport, I edited my post from last page to reflect that. Anybody, let me know of you have any questions.
