This seems like the right thing to do. Having the disease means any kid you have has, roughly, a 50% chance of inheriting it, which would just put them in the exact same position as their mother, in addition to any kids they may end up having.

It's really harsh for someone to have to deal with this disease, but there is just so much that can go wrong with having kids in this situation that you're very likely just setting up another human being to go through the exact same misery.

I know it's tough to deny your girlfriend her wish, but you have to be the sane one here. If she's in denial, and she doesn't think she's going to die, then you need to be the one keeping your head. You owe it to her to make the right decisions when she can't. Having a kid is irresponsible. Huntington's is a genetic disease, and passing that on to your child would not be fair. Even if she's in denial, part of her knows the truth.

She wants to have a kid because she knows she won't be here for long. You've shown you're remarkably strong, man. You're sticking by her side which is one of the hardest things you could possibly do, but something you'll always look back on and be glad you did. You were there for her when she needed someone the very most. So don't let her make a mistake like this before she passes. There's no perfect way to approach this situation, no solution that'll fix it all. So we find the alternatives.

Find a nursery or a preschool or a daycare, and spend some time there, the two of you. Volunteer, play with the kids, have that time together. It's not the same, but you know you can't keep this cycle going. It's probably not what you wanted to hear, but honestly, I don't think there's anything to do but to make the best out of this bad situation. Have adventures. Pack as much life as you can into what she has left. I wish the best for you both. Please take care.
