Meaning if you posted on a website told how proxies worked, how to downloaded Tor, or even gave out the raw IP address, you were breaking the law and could be sued. And the website you posted on could be shut down by the same law.
Yuck!
In short, goddamn old people need to not be law makers anymore, it's over. Young people who understand shit need to be in place.

There's a lot of shit young people don't understand nor care to understand. The TorrentSpy case a few years back is an excellent case in point. It bothers me that both sides of the debate think the other is illegitimate. Let's be honest - if all the legislators at the hearing were of the sort you want, would they have treated the opposition respectfully? Or would they have acted towards them in the same manner Google's rep was
(And let's be honest - Google's hands aren't exactly clean, considering how many pirate sites have AdWords accounts...)
As disturbing the ignorance might be from members of Congress, the lawmakers who are supposed to be thinking about this stuff, it's pretty damn disturbing the amount of misinformation I've seen about the legal process at the same time.
