As for if they'll bring back the original Zombies characters/story, Treyarch dude said they were doing something big that you haven't seen before in Zombies, and that its a completely different universe. Its unclear if "completely different universe" means not tied to BLOPS 2 at all or brand new Zombies universe.

I loved the zombies mode in Call of Duty: BLOPS. Running around as Kennedy mowing down zombies was just brilliant.

On shotguns: Mass Effect 2 had video game shotguns, but Mass Effect 3 has space shotguns. That is; fictional weapons that fit a low fire rate/close quarters/high damage niche. ME3 shotguns are still used at point-blank ranges, but will still give hit markers if fired at an enemy on the other side of the map. Call of Duty shotguns aren't silly because we cannot gib mans out at 60 feet, they are silly because at 20 feet the pellets disappear. (MW2 SPAS-12 excluded, of course) If the damage model dropped off to a minimum damage of 2 per pellet, rather than zero, we wouldn't have complaints, but would have balance discussions.

ME2 and ME3 Geth Plasma Shotguns aren't too far off, honestly. Just change it from three projectiles to >12, and you've got a realistic shotgun.

BF3 does it well. The pellets continue for a significant distance (you can get hitmarkers out to 100m, plus there's slugs) and are dangerous to where the MW2 SPAS left off.

Has anyone watched the trailer for Blops 2 and thought "That looks good"? I watched it a 2nd time last night, and there are so many different things going on that I'm already leaning towards no.

I think it looks good, but I grew up on games like Shadowrun, so I'm pretty into near-future settings where technology grows out of control, and you're operating in the shadows against conspiracies and world threats and shit. Also, I'll buy basically anything with walker-tanks in it. A lot of people I talk to are pretty turned off by the whole thing, though.

I'm disappointed that they went with the highly obvious and highly unoriginal Black Ops 2. I was hoping Treyarch would just make their next game "Call of Duty: Zombies" and give us a full zombie campaign mode, and then a whole mix of the usual zombie survival modes and perhaps even some additional new innovative modes as well.

I'm looking forward to BO2, based on the trailer we saw. It helps that I liked Black Ops a lot more that MW3, so was already slightly optimistic.

I'm a fan of the future warfare theme, as the run and gun will be pretty much the same, but the gadgets and toys will be great.

I do wonder if the unlock system, and killstreaks, will be revamped - we've got 6 months for that info to be drip-fed to us, though.

I was given MW3 as a gift. I have still not played it. MW2 left a bad taste in my mouth. It was pretty obvious the real IF folks had checked out already.

I question my own dumb self about that. I mean, an up front buy for what was essentially the Combat Record in Blops (now online) and the map packs of any CoD game.

Except I played the 1st map pack once and then never again and haven't even downloaded the other two. And I never check my Combat Record and stats online. And you can't even check out other players' combat records in the lobby - the point where you actually care about that stuff.
