    Yeah, that was solid.

Although for variety I hope that in Iron Man 3 the final fight is an intense fight between two foes that isn't solved by an element that was foreshadowed earlier in the plot.

It can be done, just better executed. For example, it was utilized well in the first film not in the second.

Current rumor is Ghost, which would fit in it the decision to make Iron Man 3 less about "guys in robot suits punching each out" and more like a "Tom Clancy style espionage thriller."

Mandarin is probably out since Shane Black considers him to be a racist caricature.

The Mandarin had better be the big bad. I'll be disappointed if he isn't.

    UDS:

Then Marvel should get him up to date with the character.

No reason we can't have both. Ghost is a mercenary, after all.

As long as they're careful not to keep adding more and more villains. I don't want to see Iron Man start churning out Batman & Robin/Spider-man 3 style sequels.

That's true. Two villains are okay, we've already had that in Iron Man 2.

Batman & Robin and Spider-man 3 had worse problems then multiple villains. It also depends on which villains are together and whether their alliance makes sense.

I actually think Hammer using Ghost would be a really strong set up for the third movie. It gives Shane Black his espionage element, we get a mastermind without using the Mandarin, and if we absolutely need to have armored dudes beating on each other, we can throw War Machine at some Hammeroids.

Oh definitely, it was quite clever in 1. I didn't mind it in 2, it's just that because of the earlier scenes fighting robots it's all there really is to the final fight beyond the ex-wife payoff.

But my main point is that I don't want the fight to be a hopeless situation resolved by some foreshadowed element three times in a row, for variety's sake. I won't be upset if it is, just a personal preference.

I do not like the Nolanverse because it seems to be almost ashamed of being a superhero movie and I prefer Batma to be more fantastical than realistic. As soon as you try to make him realistic then it just highlights how unrealistic he actually is.
I think fantastical Tim Burton type films and down-to-earth Nolan type films both have their merits. That's why I like Mulholland Dr., it's got the best of both worlds: it's stylized at first but then two thirds of the way through, the movie gives itself a gritty reboot.

I heard the trailer is better than the movie.

I'm also of the opinion that we need to stop expanding 15-page books into 90-120 minute movies. Not to be all "back in MY day" about it but these sorts of children's movies might do better as a double-feature of 45-minute films. Twice the merchandising for the cost of a single release and nobody has to write in a backstory for how the Grinch was ostracized from Whoville and had a love-interest or other bullshit filler like that.

    But what if it's bad?

I just haven't heard much good about it from anyone whose opinions I usually agree with and I have a really tough time trying to figure out how that story becomes a full-length feature.

If someone wanted to show it to me I'd give it a chance.

Speed Racer is, of course, an excellent film from beginning to end and it's a shame we'll never see an IMAX3D release.

WTWTA is such a good movie because it really hits hard what it feels like to be a kid

WTWTA also has one of the best and most authentic child performances ever.

The first time I watched Time Bandits I watched it with my kid sister and it was too dark and upsetting for her and that made it hard to enjoy but yeah it's a great movie. Dear god that ending.

more than likely you're joking, but if you're being serious, I must remind you that magneto is holding himself up by whatever metal he is wearing and his posture makes even less sense than vision's, who is a robot and could just be programmed to fly like an asshole

    I was joking, kinda.

I'd just been noticing lately, as well, that superheroes are always drawn as if they're flight is centered on their chest. There are a couple of exceptions (Iron Man is normally shown using his hands and feet, some telekinetics are shown "standing" on fields of force, etc.) but, for the most part, people seem to be "hanging" from their chest.
