Scott had been pretty corruption free so far. Hes just ignoring all this other stuff because all he cares about is making the world better. Thats why iceman left in wolverine and the x-men. He tried to appeal to scott and dude just didn't give any craps and the other phoenixes are going crazy. I dont think anyone is blaming scott straight out like some people are saying, but hes kind lf ignoring everything and the others are getting evil aroubd then so people are jumping ship.

All but one (two really, Colossus turning power hungry in two pages is again showing people didn't read Gillen's stuff) have been showing signs of corruption. Cyclops is still genuinely trying to fix the earth, but no one acknowledges it. And Cyclops is able to repress the Void, which was one of the highlights of Fraction's mediocre run, him being able to handle the Phoenix should be a nice reflection of his ability to keep his shit together.

And that brings me to something I wish we saw more of, to actually make the conflict seem more important:

Wakanda is shown as destroyed, but apparently no one died? There's been absolutely no mention of it, no bodies, just some broken buildings and big rocks. I mean really, any of the Phoenix Suns could have just snapped their fingers and fixed it all. There's a feeling that the series has got ADD and can't pay attention to show why these things are bad or why we should care.

The overall storyline is pretty weak, but AvX has still had some moments I've enjoyed. Spidey's last stand was pretty cool, even if it seems like something we've seen before.

Have we ever seen Professor X bust out a Psylocke style Psychic Knife before? I mean, if Psylocke can do it, it makes sense that Prof X could too, but it's just strange to see him getting his hands dirty like that. Plus the whole cutting demons in half thing doesn't jive with a psychic knife or his powers. Or am I just overthinking this?

In #8, with Namor visibly being the one attacking Wakanda, Cap says it's Cyclops' fault. And at the end of #8 Professor X blames Cyclops for going too far, which made no sense. And even in #6, when we see the Phoenix Suns doing good with no signs of corruption, and the Avengers trying to kidnap Hope and in the process punch an innocent kid, Cap still blames Cyclops. Comics Alliance is doing these fun write ups of the AvX series every issue, and even they point out how douchey Cap is being to the X-Men.

Cyclops straight up didn't know Namor was attacking and went right away to go stop it. And in the case of Wolverine and the X-Men, he was stopping earthquakes permanently, so Bobby feeling bad didn't have any weight.

This is why Black Panther kind of came out of nowhere to be this nice voice of reason; he knows since he's a ruler of a nation he saw that the X-Men were doing good, he's also helping the Avengers, but he also tells Cap to shut up about blaming Cyclops. And he also smack Tony back to his senses, if only T'Challa was Captain America.

Also I just read AvxX 9 and I enjoyed it. The mere fact that Iron Fist should play a role in the ending almost redeems the stories weak points.

Wow, Reed Richards actually told the geniuses that Cyclops is actually fixing things, that was unexpected. Yay Reed. I still don't understand Xavier's problem with what Cyclops is doing, he hasn't been discriminatory in fixing the world.

Captain America is just acting terrible though, Bendis just does not get the character. Yes, the X-Men are acting like nazis, that'll guilt trip you into being on my side!
