CNN really needs a fact checker running while the debate goes on.

Defense spending is 17% of the budget, is that true?

    800px-U.S._Federal_Spending_-_FY_2010.svg.png

I guess not, if this pie chart from wiki is reliable.

Here's a bigger question: do we need to spend more? We already outspend every other country in the known universe on the military.

We currently spend more than five hundred billion dollars a year more on the military than China, 4.7% of GDP compared to China's 2.2%.

The problem is that we waste money on pointless contracts for shit we don't even want (like engines and planes the military says they don't need).

I'm watching this with my 89 year old grandma. As soon as it began, she said, "Which one is from Texas? I don't trust anyone from up north."

    She is a cutie.

@AManFromEarth, thanks, the 17% seemed low.

Holy shit, Paul just did a whole spiel without saying 'liberties' or any variation on 'monetary policy'.

I think Ron Paul has come to the realization that he will never win the nomination, so he's just trying to troll the other candidates and call them out on as much of their bullshit as he can.

So Paul basically said that he's been doing pretty much nothing while in office.

Basically, Paul is going to be your guys' Gilles Duceppe; no shot at winning, so he can just say whatever the hell he wants.

Also, I think Santorum is competing for 'most vague answer'.

So far Santorum is handling himself well. Good response to Paul.

I really want to see what these people are writing down while people are talking to them. I think I saw Romney do it and Paul is definitely doing it. Strikes me as super rude unless like, someone is telling you something they expect you to take notes on.

    stop mentioning the Olympics, Romney.

It's not going to be good for you.

It involved bringing foreigners into this country.

Government can't protect the border. Therefore state government should control the border.

Newt Gingrich accuses Romney of class warfare. Only Ron Paul has failed to label him a dangerous leftist subversive so far tonight.
Accusing the rich fucker of class warfare is a new twilight zone of this campaign.

Mitt should add that he's "painfully, ball-crushingly, shit-splattering" conservative.

"They wanted to kill the Osprey."

And they didn't. So it killed a bunch of Marines. >_>
