Its not like its worth getting up to watch.

If it was on at a decent hour I'd watch. In a few months you'd have to pay me to watch A's/M's but for opening day? Sure.

I would have definitely watched it if it was on at 8PM. Ordinarily my TV isn't even on at that hour anyway

I just looked at what the Phillies' Opening Day lineup is likely to be and it makes me sad. I'm looking forward to a whole lot of 2-1 games.
NOT! Here's the sad news if you care:
    C Carlos Ruiz
    1B Ty Wigginton
    2B Freddy Galvis
    SS Jimmy Rollins
    3B Placido Polanco
    LF John Mayberry, Jr.
    CF Shane Victorino
    RF Hunter Pence

I looked at that and said what the hell is Pence doing batting 8th?

    Whoops.

Yeah sorry, that's by position. My best guess would be Victorino-Rollins-Pence-Mayberry-Polanco-Wigginton-Galvis-Ruiz-Pitcher but I could be totally wrong, Charlie loves to tinker.

the ones who flock to Tampa have been decent

maybe in Texas there's some runoff from insufferable Cowboys fans

They are the same exact thing. Also, they are new money. And there is nothing worse than new money.

The real worse part about Texas is that they feel entitled to everything even though this is like the first time ever that they've been successful.

At least with Seattle and Oakland there's some positive history there.

    That's what new money means.

First game of season starts in Japan. So of course it's only fitting that the first hit of the season is made by Ichiro.

In other baseball news, Magic Johnson and his pals bought the Dodgers. For $2 billion, shattering all previous prices paid for sports franchises.

I thought MLB Network would have the game on but they did not. Why bother even going to Japan and doing this if you're only going to air it regionally?

It appears that BJ Upton is going to miss opening day and has no hard timetable to return other than whenever he damn well feels like it, apparently

which is weird because he's played in minor league games since the collision

I know someone has him in the league

Guys to this point in the season

The mariners have scored three times more runs than they allow
    are undefeated in their division
are undefeated in games aired on a radio station
have a bullpen that has never surrendered a run

I think we're looking at a 120 win team here.

BJ Upton to the DL to start the season.

Now, if they would just place him on the DL NOW I could put him there too and get a backup ASAP, but they probably won't actually do that until the season actually starts. grhb

guys the Mariners to this point have scored fewer runs they allow
are struggling to stay better than .500 in their division
have no apparent correlation between victory and the broadcast of their games
    and their bullpen is dogmeat

I think we might be looking at a 75 win team here.

I can only assume that the virtually guaranteed impending TV deal is what has caused the purchase price to be high. The Rangers got 1 billion over 10 years. You must figure that the Dodgers will get more.

I guess Carl Crawford won't be ready for opening day?

Seriously the worst free agent signing in the history of sports
