...and our fan translation group, Iwakura Productions, will be doing the localization.
The first game in the eXceed Trilogy, a rather popular series of doujin shmups, was only going to be released in its original language, due to lost source code.
The head of Nyu went looking for a group of volunteers willing to take up the mantle of translating the game to provide players with a script, and I volunteered mine.
We're doing this on a strictly freelance basis out of love for the game, and because I know how much it sucks to have games get released without an available translation. The creator has approved the creation of a patch to make the game English-language some time after its release.
A release date should be announced very soon, so I'll be sure to keep you all posted.
(We're hoping to get a demo rolling as well, I'll definitely update if that comes to pass.)
According to my talks with Nyu, this game is damn hard, to the point that even testers are having trouble clearing it.
That makes me happy.
And more shmups on Steam bodes well for everyone, I think.
(I also believe the success of Jamestown is a solid indication that there is a significant market for the genre there.)

Long ago, a war broke out between God and Angels that had risen in rebellion against Him.
Mankind allied itself with God and fought valiantly, but countless lives were claimed by the deviant hordes led by the Fallen Angels. The war dragged on with the devastation and loss of lives reached even more appalling heights.
Then, at the darkest hour when all seemed lost, a single Angel descended to aid Mankind. Her name was Anhel.
Our Holy Lady Anhel eventually led Mankind to victory, but was gravely injured over the course of many battles. Anhel declared that she would enter a long sleep to heal her wounds, but that she would awaken if the Fallen Angels should arise once more and threaten our world.
To protect our Holy Lady while she slumbered, Mankind created a bastion and entrusted it to a newly-formed order of Knights.
Many years have passed since that time, but now once again Mankind finds itself in need of help from our Holy Lady Anhel.
The Gun Bullet Children is an elite group of individuals who wield magic and other unworldly powers. Their powers were instilled in them by the Church Inquisition, but at the cost of most of their lifespan. Their life expectancy is only 20 years old, which is why they are called the ‘Children’.

Some food for thought:
*Saturn USB is supported! So more likely any controllers/sticks/whatever should work with eXceed as well.
*The rumors are true. This game is DAMN hard. Bosses don't let up, and Stage 1 isn't to be taken lightly.
That said, enjoy the screens.
(DISCLAIMER: The game has not yet been patched. This is a preview I created to showcase the script that's presently in the works.)
The early feedback is very positive, and I'm optimistic. If this game turns out well, it can only mean good things for doujin and shmups on Steam, alike.
