Basically, it's a thought experiment about how one comes to terms with an unjust death in which they lack power. It's not really a troll, or attempting to push a religious philosophy on others, as some seem to think. If the man asking the question is trying to achieve such a goal, he picked a poor philosophical argument for it.
I'd assume he was actually just asking how Tyson would handle such a situation, since the main character finds it necessary to resort to religious explanation, whereas Tyson would presumably not follow such a line of reasoning. His answer is actually really good, given that it sums an atheistic outlook on the situation quite well: It is moot, I will be dead and my remains will decay.
