You know what, this is fucking awesome, because I was just having a chat with a friend about what kind of an interface a wearable HUD should use. I mentioned something like this and he dismissed it because he figured you'd have to wear electrodes all over your head.

It's also only moving a pair of ears in fairly simple patterns (and with no regards towards accuracy). The more accuracy you need, the closer the sensory mechanism needs to be to the source (to the point where some highly advanced mind/machine interfaces need to stick electrodes into your brain). This might chance in the future if we develop light-weight low-interference high-precision remote 3D brain imaging technology.
