It's a legitimately good story, but man imagine how awesome it would be if it weren't limited by Young-Adult Novel writing. I'm really looking forward to the movie.
I'm concerned I won't like them because they are YA
Get them anyways y/n?
Get the first one, read the second and third if you're a masochist or have friends who won't get off your back about it; wikipedia the synopsis otherwise.

I really need to stop reading stuff that isn't fantasy and sci-fi novels for a bit. I mean, I like reading about stuff like linguistics or metamorphosis or cryptography or botany or how to survive in the wilderness but it's been awhile since I was able to just sit and turn my mind off and enjoy a story.
Magazine-wise, I'm also currently reading the latest issue of British GQ, which for some reason was being sold here. I loudly cheered when I discovered it.
This is the coolest shit ever. But holy goddamn it is dense. And now I'm half-obsessed with physically representing protention in a manner that doesn't assert that one particular future is dominant in any given future-Now.
And I'm going over immortality of the transcendental-I from some recommended readings that my professor gave me. No one told me this stuff was so cool
Yeah, Husserl is pretty boss.
But there are more dense essays/books if you can believe it. Because as dense as Husserl could ever hope to be he will never top Kant.
Oh, don't I know it.
Parts of me want to read Kant.
Other parts are scared.

I keep hearing good things about the discworld series but I'm a really obsessive reader, like I can't put a book/series of books down for anything if they are good, so I'm terrified to start reading a new series.
Are they good enough books to be worth potentially losing my wife/job over?

Vivienne also got me the complete works of Calvin and Hobbes.
It really is interesting to read, looking at it now as an adult, you can really see him project his sense of lonelyness, and his failure to find his place in the world on to the narrative.
It's still funny, but I'm reading it again and it just seems so personal.
'I know about sureness,' said Didactylos. Now the light irascible tone had drained out of his voice. 'I remember before I was blind, I went to Omnia once. This was before the borders were closed, when you still let people travel. And in your Citadel I saw a crowd stoning a man to death in a pit. Ever seen that?'
'It has to be done,' Brutha mumbled. 'So the soul can be shriven and — '
'Don't know about soul. Never been that kind of a philosopher,' said Didactylos. 'All I know is, it was a horrible sight.'
'The state of the body is not — '
'Oh, I'm not talking about the poor bugger in the pit,' said the philosopher. 'I'm talking about the people throwing the stones. They were sure all right. They were sure it wasn't them in the pit. You could see it in their faces. So glad that it wasn't them that they were throwing just as hard as they could.'

Well see I don't mind if things are complicated
Some things are complicated, and philosophy especially is one of them
But the amount of time I read an essay or book or whatever, and I am thinking "okay, the way you said that was way more complicated than it needed to be." It pisses me off something fierce, I tell you.
