Grifball at PAX PRIME

so i think we need to put together a live action grifball games in some lobby or on the main floor.
Game play; A ball is fought over by two teams. One side has to move it across to the other teams goals, like soccer but we use foam sabers to smack the heck out of each other.

and let chaos ensue. mad mad chaos and fun

    People beating at each other with foam sabres will likely be frowned upon by the convention staff, FYI.

    Also, for those who don't know, I am pretty sure Griffball is a Red vs. Blue thing.

    Also also, Raxximus, there is actually a full forum dedicated for PAX. We can certainly talk about PAX here, but I have a feeling the kind of conversations you're looking for are more likely to be found there.

    Honestly, the convention center is far too crowded during PAX. I can't imagine either the convention staff or the PA staff being ok with something like this in such a crowded space. Unless maybe you did it late at night when things aren't as crowded. But definitely check if PA is cool with the idea first to avoid bad feelings and disappointment.

    Can I bring my nerf gun/lightsaber/airsoftgun/other weird thing?
    Not if it looks like a firearm at "second glance". Not if it is sharp or pointy enough to cut or pierce someone with moderate pressure. Not if it is weighty enough to bludgeon someone with a moderate-force swing. And not if it has the ability to fire any sort of projectile.

    Also thanks for everyone else who gave some warning flags instead of shooting it down right away.
    I feel that it would be in line with the safety code if the foam sabers at target were used. They have no rod or other hard material in them.

    I think a sneaky version could be made during the convention, where teams wear headbands and quietly knock the ball out of the hands of people, say use a piece of paper or something small instead of a ball that could be left on the ground.
