Yeah, but it's no good if
He's written entirely out of character.

    It's almost as bad as
Batwing coming to see his "dear friend" Vixen because they are both from her "native Africa." :(

    And three people died,
Gavril and the two UN Handlers. All for pretty much no reason, since they were three of the newest characters in the book. And Bea is going to end up in a coma indefinitely, most likely.

    Wait, they killed off
    Gavril!?

    Fuuuuuuuuck that

    Ha ha, that's awful.

I bet they met at Africa University.

Actually there's a whole page of dialogue about them meeting at an AIDS clinic they were both volunteering for. It's really not that bad.

Did anyone here read Stormwatch #8? I saw a couple or so pages posted on Scans_Daily.
Sure fans of the Apollo-Midnighter-Jenny Quantum family dynamic weren't too happy with what Midnighter did. I did have a bit of a laugh over the general first reaction to the last page about Jenny deciding something that Midnighter won't like.

"OMG, she used her powers and turned him straight!" "DON'T EVEN JOKE ABOUT IT!"

Blurring is something I'm seeing more in comics these days, don't really care for it. I'd prefer the motion lines that the artist makes.

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
I've seen it done well, but more often than not it is pretty sloppy

    Fuuuuuuuuck that

    I know!

He's been around for less than 2 years, it's bullshit! And his UN handlers were brand new characters for this book, and one of them was really cool. The other didn't really have any personality yet and just served as a foil, but she could've been cool too.

    Argh!

Man, OMAC #8 really ended abruptly.

I'm not sure what the series was meant to be building up to, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't what we got.

I still think he's not dead.
he got zapped with some tech ray in the first story arc, I think issue 5, where it looked like he might have uploaded or been connected to something. He'll come back as a Red Tornado thing (oh wait, what if he becomes the new Red Tornado because of it? Red commie, Red boring android?)

It seemed like that's what they had been planning, but that they had to rush it, condense it, and pull big parts of it that hadn't been established yet.

It had a lot more form to it than a lot of canceled book finales do, plus Giffen and Didio always sounded like they had the whole thing planned to the end whenever they were interviewed.

The more I see of Kara's costume, the more I'm starting to come around to it. Her old costume was a classic, but this one I'm alright with.

All it takes is for the logo to appear a little lower on her breast.

It's just a really unfortunate design decision, especially given the fact that the new costume is supposed to be less sexually suggestive.

In that drawing it looks like she's wearing high heel platform boots, or at least that's how the blue makes it look.

Maguire does a better job making it look less like mom hair.

So you're saying PG's new costume is supposed to be a little more...PG? :P

Still hate it and I think I always will.

At best it looks like a rather ugly speed-skating outfit with a cape.

    Wait.

Is that outfit different from the earlier art we saw?

'Cuz I don't remember PG's new outfit looking that bad.

I...am now really wishing they had just kept her old outfit and filled in the boob window.

Yeah, there was another outfit, but they don't seem to be using it anymore.

I actually like the new version, with the blue. It breaks up all the white, a bit. And it's a nod to her old design.

I still think the "P" on the chest is uninspired, though.

It is a little asinine to design your costume around the first letter of your name, as if that letter was somehow a definitive trait.

Superman can get away with it, but nobody else can.

Geoforce is a really good example of how much that approach sucks.

    250px-Geo-Force.jpg

First of all, the dude can shoot rocks and lava and stuff, but you'd never know it by looking at him. For whatever reason, the most compelling aspects of the character play no role in his costume whatsoever.

Second of all, 99% of people are going to assume that his name is Girlfriend.

Geo-Force looks like the mascot for a sandwich shop.

Kinda want to do the Geo-Force redesign I've been sitting on, now. It's basically the "worthy" Thing, but more regal and aristocratic.

Lava rocks would do a better job of emphasizing his power set, and the juxtaposition of regality and brutishness would be really interesting and help the character stand out more.

His original brown and tan costume was the better one. At least, ya know, earth tones.

G-Man and Great Man work with the G on their chest.

I don't know why, but now I want to see a male superhero named Girlfriend.

He can even look exactly like that guy.

The dialogue possibilities are too damn good.

    New DC thing: National Comics.

Series of one-shot stories about characters who don't currently have their own series, sort of like First Issue Special.

First issue: Jeff Lemire and Cully Hamner reboot Kid Eternity:

    NATL_1_ETERN1.jpg

Future issues include Madame X, Rose and Thorn, and Looker.
