Yeah, so I've never written anything this short. It's, uh, it's fucking hard. Help?

Honestly, I've got nothing. I think you accomplish what you need to, and nothing stood out as needing a fix. I might be able to find some wording to quibble over if I stare at it for an hour, but it doesn't seem necessary.

“Hic non defectus est, sed cattus minxit desuper nocte quadam. Confundatur pessimus cattus qui minxit super librum istum in nocte Daventrie, et consimiliter omnes alii propter illum. Et cavendum valde ne permittantur libri aperti per noctem ubi cattie venire possunt.”

Yeah I liked it too, and yes writing flash fiction can be hard.

The story is pretty great. The title kinda sucks a nut, but I'm not the one to give advice on titles.

    Riley: "You're a marsupial!"
    Maddie: "I am not!"
    Riley: "You're a marsupial!"
Maddie: "I am a placental mammal!"

Oh, yeah, totally. One-word titles are reportedly a no-no.

Really? I did not know this. Is this specifically a written fiction thing? Because I think some of the best titles in both film and gaming are one-word. Chinatown and Inception for film, Quake and Fear and Limbo for games... all of them do a good job of summarizing the general feel of a work in a single word. Quake is especially notable because the game has nothing to do with, say, earthquakes, yet Quake just kind of fits. I'd think that given the importance given to brevity and economy of words, being able to encapsulate a tale in one word would be considered a plus.

That said, calling your sci-fi story "Space" seems a bit like calling your swords-and-sorcery epic "Fantasy".

Along these lines, I know it's one-word, but what about "Release"? Or something? "Scenes From an Airlock"? "Things To Do In Zero-G When You're (Imminently) Dead"?

It is a written fiction/poetry thing that comes from editors of small press mags, journals, zines, and the like. I think movies and games are a whole other ballpark, perhaps one in another state.

Haha, maybe I should retitle all of my one-word title stories then.

FWIW, "The Last" strikes me as generic though not actively bad, so it's a step up.
