It's funny you mention that.

Well, that fucking sucks. Still kinda wish I had the money to kick them some in their kickstarter, because I really want these games, and wanted the PS3 port.
On the other hand, Vic getting involved really lowers the chance of getting Class of Heroes 3, yet alone it's PS3 port, because if this bombs it'll damage the brand in the US -- such as it is.

Which means that we'll never see Class of Heroes 3 (or the PS3 version) which apparently is freaking amazing. Does that count as "damaging the brand?"
Edit: Kotaku is saying they're just going to go the slow route now:

The recent Mythic kickstarter scam has me wondering though -- if the funding failed, does that mean Monkeypaw gets partially funded for this, or they get nothing at all?
Edit 2: And in other news, here's a trailer for "New Class of Heroes" (aka Class of Heroes 4):
Looks like a more... I won't say "Traditional" RPG (since they don't get more traditional than Wizardry style) but a more "mainstream" one, perhaps.
I know it's kinda a niche game, but lord, I hope Monkeypaw can make this work, with the PSP and PS3 versions. 3 should use the same engine so localization work should be easier, and 4 there looks awesome, even if it's not a Wizardry game anymore.
Note that the gameplay footage there is apparently from the PS3 version. Hopefully that is a sneaky way of letting us know that the PS3 version is coming, and not them just picking the better game to get screenshots from. But at the same time, while this was tweeted by Monkeypaw yesterday, it was posted a month ago, so plans may have changed.
Welcome to the world on this side.
Not expecting much tho. So no to the PS3 version then?

Welcome to the world on this side.
7th Dragon Saga for the DS and PSP are pretty good. I'm playing the PSP one and having a fun time.
Maybe we'll luck out and he'll obsess over a single game that nobody but him cares about so much that he puts himself out of business again.

Is this actually what's happened or are you making that up to try and discredit him or something? Either way, it doesn't sound correct to me. Sony are the ones that do almost all the work getting PS1 games on the PSN, including checking out any lingering legal issues, ripping the game, creating the wrapper for it and testing to make sure it works properly on the emulator. The publishers role is more along the lines of fronting fees (both for submission and ratings boards) and PR/marketing, which I'm pretty sure MonkeyPaw were handling. It's not like Gaijinworks had to re-translate it or anything, so Vic should barely be involved.
I've not heard anything though. My guess is that Acquire's the reason why it's taking so long.
It was Growlanser that pretty much did them in.

What, really? Huh. I thought it was Sony cockblocking everything they wanted to localize because they weren't pretty enough for a US Market or somesuch. What's the story with Growlanser?
But I mean they were working on Goemon at the same time, and the localization is apparently 100% done despite Sony repeatedly refusing them on it.
Growlanser 2 was done, Sony wouldn't let them release it as a stand alone because it was '2d'. So it had to be bundled with Growlanser 3. Which took WD another year, with no incoming profits. End WD.

But I mean that sort of seems like the kind of thing you check on before you finish localizing a game
Sony has a history of fucking over smaller devs like that.
Case in point, my Avatar.
You still going on about your crazy conspiracy theory surrounding Makai Wars?

You know what the real sad part about all of this is? The game isn't even good. In fact, it's a mediocre game at best. Unless you never seen it and just like Goemon, it is a serious departure from earlier games in the series.

It is basically the worst Goemon game
So, yeah

Localizing 2 instead of just moving onto 3 is just another "what the fuck were they thinking" moment.
Welcome to the world on this side.
Because releasing PSP games even now is a risky and tricky proposition, let alone a year from now. Releasing 2 now instead of 3 just makes it increasingly likely that 3 will never be released at all.
I think it's quite the opposite. Sony have apparently dropped all royalty charges for PSP games, so releasing them seems more risk free than ever.
