[Xenoblade Chronicles] is a pretty good game. Good enough to get a Wii U sequel.

More work upfront, less later on.
I wanted to find the shield (mostly due to that vision), but stumbled across the nopon merchant first because I was out looking for Burmia Scent Wood for C6*. I can't ignore a ! and don't turn down quests; after you accept his quest I think you get locked out of finding the shield.
*And then the little fluffball asks me to find more of that crap and delays me from getting that L2 Residency even more.
In retrospect, I should have turned him down. But I had saved (read: ended my session, since it was like 3am) right after accepting so I was beyond hope at that point. :\
Edit: On the subject of C9 quests, is there a significant difference in whether you talk to Leopold or to his girl in the loan shark quest? I went with her, hoping to avoid a break-up. Most of the other choices I've made (nopon love, fighting brothers, soldier love) I've been sure of, but that one could have gone either way.

Nice, and it's still available? Hrm...I'm pretty tempted. Was Goldeneye any good?
Personally, I never got a chance to try it out for myself, but a buddy of mine did. He's generally not into FPS games, but he liked it alright.
Edit: Lionheart it's not just four stars. It's a nebulous value between four and five as well as having done Jackson's quest.
Edit: Vyolynce - The Leopold version is pretty different yeah, and I'd say better. In his version you frame King Squeeze for some serious shit and Leopold really gets him by the balls. Which King Squeeze kind of deserves.

Sword versus Shield. Sword is more work early on, shield is less fun when the quest resumes but does have a better ending.
Eric versus other dude. Almost no difference at all. Eric is a douche though.
Cherri versus clearly the right person for the job. Picking Cherri locks you out of the best quest in the game and costs you an affinity coin.
En versus Zel Argentis. Both have equally annoying quests. Zel's is slightly quicker.
Berryjammy versus Macrish. Berryjammy is a jerk, but Ms. Sweetness is in her name. Macrish is also a jerk. Winner: Berryjammy.
Brother versus Brother: Nopon brother wants to leave, human brother is sort of being a dick about it. However forcing him to stay also creates a nice resolution.
Desiree's career: Artist is way better than Soldier, brings the whole situation with Betty to a satisfying conclusion.
Rosemary's Date: Nic all the way. While both of them are assholes on their own questlines, Nic is clearly the right guy for the job.
There are some minor decisions you make outside of quests that are important too. Tell the asshole researcher to go home more often, tell the nopon chef to cook what people like and generally call people out when they are being an asshole.
Plus Nic doesn't make sense in the fact that Rosemary wanted to leave Colony 9 in the first place because she didn't like any of the men there. Nic is also from colony 9. Why would she be suddenly interested? When you mention him to her, even she's all "eh", and is far more interested in Yura.
Though shirtless dude definitely has the best response to the whole thing.
Still, Eric is a shitlord.

Not sure but it got decent reviews. I bought it mostly for the controller but I figured the original Goldeneye was fun enough that I can't imagine they could screw up a remake *too* bad
It's not even that Yura is an asshole to you more that his quest was the very last one I had outstanding in my first run so I've got bad blood with him.
It works out well either way though. In fact the only one I know for a fact now to never ever do is promote Cherri. Just do not do it.
Haha what happens if you promote her? I picked the dude that didn't fall asleep on the job all the time
One of the more amusing quests is picking Leku's spouse. He's like yeah I don't really care just pick two who are complete opposites of each other. It just goes to show how ridiculous the quest system can be. Same with Desiree. Shulk's reactions are gold.
Sad thing about Cherri is that she gets better resolution if you don't make her the boss that probably makes her happier in the long run. She already has that whole questline involving Sharla and her mom anyways.
I didn't pick the archeologist because her description said she was "married to her job".
Although I don't think I'll ever be able to find the Love Cranes for the cute one's other quest. :\

But I can tell you that's false because I picked Cherri and still got that quest line.

I picked Gadada or whatever his name was, so I only know that side.
I went with CC; never looked back.
Cool. Whatever links the two questlines this time must be obscure as fuck; I revisited the place a ton of times before the lockout and never found it.
I somehow get them all the time as my bonus items in Colony 6.
And I don't know what the difference between the two girls ends up being, but he seems happy with my choice. The "how romantical" line cracks me up everytime though (seems to be the only thing he says now that I'm done doing stuff w/ him).
That is one thing that seems really stupid about some of the quests though. There are some seriously just plain "why the hell can't you do this yourself?" quests. Like, all these quests to pick a lover or give a lover a note or gift or whatever. Seriously? "Oh yeah, the dude totally likes you he gave me this note to give to you!" What are we in highschool?
Though Monica's dialog
"Eric Eric.
Eric Eric.
Eric Eric."
was pretty funny.
If you can walk through everything leading up to the boss but get devastated constantly then your boss is a piece of shit and you made your fucking game wrong.
Good fucking lord.
It is by no means the hardest fight in that game.
Man, that fucking Alcamoth one was the worst, just because there was like a mile between the two parties. At least the nopon were fairly close together (give or take some time-travel).

It was a joke until he'd summon his guardians and the terribad party AI would refuse to switch targets when told them to and I'd get chained to death and have to start over.
Also the game is really bad at informing you of what abilities are reduced by Armor and what aren't. I.E. every other ability in the game is reduced by it except half the last bosses attacks.
I don't care if its not the hardest fight in the game, the difficulty of it isn't appropriate at all given the difficulty of every single fight leading up to it. Plus, had I not gone out of my way to do every single sidequest pre
I'm not exaggerating saying I did every single side quest pre-that one point, I was keeping track throughout the game with the spreadsheet. I'm gonna say if you can do over four hundred (seriously) side quests and still barely be the right level to fight the last boss when you get there, that was some piss poor planning on the developers fault.
They shouldn't present the side quests as optional when they're really not. Fooled me.
Regardless, decent ending, if not a bit ham-fisted. It fit with the themes of the latter 1/2-1/3 of the game, so nothing was terribly surprising except one completely unnecessary "twist".
Thematically it is a lot more related to past Xeno-games than I think some want to admit or give credit to. Gameplay wise, and surface plot aren't similar much, yeah; but what the games are actually trying to say have been virtually the same thing throughout all the unrelated xeno-games.
Anyway, it's not that I suddenly hate the game now. 115 hours well spent. I'll go easy on the 90+ stuff I didn't do, not a lot of pressure to do it atm since I don't intend on doing a newgame+ this year as 115 hours in a single non-mmo game is more than I put into virtually any other single game; so I'm calling it good here.
With the boss I switched to mostly stuff to reduce damage and to increase tension because those were my biggest problems with it. Taking too much damage because Armor suddenly was half worthless (and inexplicably so, sometimes it'd work on the bosses attacks, sometimes, nah) and getting low tension and that dicking me over.
And I was running Reyn, Shulk, Sharla because they were the go-to god-party whenever I didn't feel like something being a challenge. Reyns abilities were mostly aggro focused, shulks was pretty much the default because, well, he doesn't have any options to switch out; and sharla was completely heals/buffs with no damage arts.
LIke I said, the fight would be a joke, constantly, until guardians came out. Then the AI would just fucking refuse to do whatever I told it to; Reyn wouldn't get off the boss, so the guardians would just clobber Shulk; and whenever those guys were out was when Armor didn't do a damn thing.
The annoying thing was, when he summoned them was random. The first form he only does it once. The second form? Who the fuck knows. When I beat it, he only summoned them once. Prior times he did 2-3 times. He had an ability, that I don't recall the name of, probably a spoiler anyway, that would randomly either summon them or do fuck-all. You can try to chain him to keep him toppled to avoid the change, but there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when he did it so it was hard to predict. The third form wasn't hard, and I don't think it was supposed to be for reasons that are obvious in the ending. The first was only hard the first time I didn't expect the guardians, then it wasn't hard the second time. It was the second form and it's inconsistencies.
It's now like "Yay! Not everything in the area is 10 levels lower and ignoring me. Now stuff is actually aggroing and attacking me!"
"...I don't like this at all, leave me alone!!!"

Watch as you proceed to gain a half-dozen levels just fighting stuff your level, with no quests whatsoever.
