i think that might be the same program that came up with 11 pool 18 hatch being the best opening for zerg in terms of economy (this may have been if you're only staying on two bases, and as it was run by a computer, doing everything perfectly)

    so basically, no

Can I get a doctor's note saying that I don't smoke so Twitch'll stop showing me these anti-smoking ads? I mean come on...I'm eating here!

every so often when I want to watch a stream it will just hang on Loading ad

I don't have an adblock, even. but it just does it over and over until eventually it doesn't for a while.

edit - yay it stopped. polt time.

and yeah I could live without the no smoking adds! I don't smoke cigs, won't smoke cigs, and they are really gross.

Yeah, I get that problem every now and again. Just started happening recently. I use Google chrome, what about you? When I switch to Firefox, the issue seems to disappear.

    I also use Chrome

Happens to me on both Safari and Firefox.

    Conspiracy debunked.

  • DhalphirDhalphir Registered User regular
My stream doesn't hang, but quite often the black screen will flash up saying "Loading ad"

sit there for about 2 seconds

    then disappear

and it will repeat once for each ad the streamer chooses to run

most run 3 ads between games, so it flashes thrice then stops.

Lads and lassies, I just held a ling/bling roach burst!

The trick is a wall of supply depots , infront of a bunker in front of another bunker.
Two tanks and a few marines can clean up the rest. \o/

Been killed by that a lot when going mech recently. :)

If there's a cheaper way to hold that, let me know.

If you've been doing the standard reactor hellion, you should have at least 2 hellions out by the time it hits... unless its a 1 base bust, in which case you'll know there is something funky going on so you can toss down 2 bunkers anyways.

Yeah, i usually have 4 hellions out by the time the big roach bust comes.
I was never able to hold it though.
The ling/bling variant comes a few minutes later, but if I build a depot wall with bunkers I should hold the roach timing too, not sure though.

Something other than hatch first is funky in ZvT.

hmm I'm not as good as you two then; I've died to a roach push when I saw the hatch first.
If I don't see the hatch I usually tech straight to siege but my wall at the natural doesn't hold anyway.

Well, it should be. Although at gold, hatch first could be some kinda standard macro play.

Doesn't really matter. Anything other than hatch first sacrifices economy. If you don't see a hatch first just make two bunkers at the top of your ramp and make your CC in your main. If they really want to trick you by not going hatch first, let them. It works out roughly the same either way. You spend money to defend what might come, they lose money by not gonig hatch first and gain nothing in return.

day9 talking about tvp is all good until right now where he's describing the toss as all in (basically saying you just have to kill the army) when... I don't know why the toss wouldn't just take a 4th base. build a bank, finish ups, etc.

In today's comment on weird things that have a profound effect on Starcraft culture is the TL stream list.

So in the beta that listing was primarily done by viewer counts. Anyone could crack into it given a properly sized audience. This allowed people to build a crowd basis. Destiny, Trump, others got into the public eye very justly through this method. I mean certainly those names were part of the initial gold rush of popularity in the beta, but in general it was fun content -> more viewers -> front page -> more more viewers.

Then at some point Team Liquid made a serious business declaration to basically make the call on anyone's stream if they are list-able or not based on 'important contributions or notable achievements', paraphrasing.

I think it is very damaging to the culture. You might say ... 'its one click to the unfeatured streams moron'. But that is a gulf in internet browsing!

I just think its weird that you can watch JP stream whatever game he wants on the frontpage of TL, as well as 40 same-y korean player streams. Meanwhile many will dismiss the medium due to unfair barriers of entry.

Oftentimes I find the culture has dropped out of the community a little bit in an urge to tighten up and be professional. Then for some reason people talk about how growth is important before monetization.

Yeah I feel like the protoss could have just stayed back and not gotten aggressive, and just hung back to defend a 4th. Also i think the toss got blink instead of charge and that made a huge difference in the first big engage.

Isn't this already the case? They make people featured if they are either popular or have a high degree of skill.

Idra lost 0-4 to Morrow in the NASL showmatch. That puts him 0-16 in his last four showmatches.

    0-4 Taeja
    0-4 aLive
    0-4 HuK
    0-4 Morrow

    What a crazy slump.

They've kept like Hui (chinese streamer) and MaximusBlack (caster) off featured for months and they both regularly get 1000+ viewers.

Eventually they will relent but its just more arbitrary policing for what is supposed to be an open journalism based site.

And its like how many people know who Fitzy is, despite having ten times the viewership of SlayersMin who is consistently frontpaged for being on a Korean team.

There is a reason the beta seemed a bit more diverse in terms of the content that was being exposed.
