Well she thought the same thing for Thor, she got to see it early and thought it was stupid. She didn't get the appeal of movies like Watchmen, Iron Man, Hulk, Die Hard, anything by Tarintino, Kubrick, Wes Anderson. Really she thinks anything that isn't a kids movie or James Cameron will bomb. She has worked at movie theaters for over 20 years and dislikes 90% of cinema.

Fury isn't AWOL so much as retired. He still does espionage shit, just on his own terms or as favors for other people. Like he helped out Bucky in Winter Soldier.
Cap hasn't stepped down yet, but probably will after AvX.
Marcus is an Army Ranger who came home to find out his mom was killed during the Fear Itself bullshit and is then hunted by Taskmaster, Deadpool and a bunch of other mercs and finds out he is Nick Fury's son.
