That was an excellent first episode. So many, many memorable moments.
Jonah's exit was like the exact opposite of Malcolm Tucker's from The Thick of It. I remember when Tucker was shown the exit, his "You will see me again! You will fucking see me again" sent god damn chills down my spine. And Jonah's was almost as glorious, except for completely different reasons. Dan filming it really made it special.
Dan is such a piece of shit. This can't be the last of Jonah, he's the best character in the show and the closest thing to a Malcolm Tucker the show has. Not in terms of instilling power over others or verbal annihilation, but just the wildcard hilarity.
I feel like with each season it's getting closer to being at The Thick of It's level, I just want Selena to have a Hugh Abbot "I just find myself thinking they're from a different fucking species" moment.
That Tony Hale dancing gif needs to be at the top of every page. I love clicking on this thread because of that split second view of it before I'm taken to the latest post.
Put like that, I can appreciate him. I'm glad they didn't try to recreate Malcolm Tucker, because that was never going to happen. Making Jonah a completely worthless slimeball, though, makes him different, and he is still memorable.
Also very, very happy that Randal Park is getting regular-ish TV work. The only thing that would make it better is if he somehow worked his baby into it.
At some point I want someone to just ask, point blank, "Why do you want to be President?"
Because I can't think of any reason her character would want to be President. She's seen too much firsthand to want to deal with that. At this point, I think she wants to be President because that's what she's expected to want, or something.
That was one of my favourite episodes. So many great moments, and so much despair from everyone. They need to give Jonah a win every so often, if he always has it snatched away at the last minute it'll become stale.
Dan getting absolutely played by Ben with the Chung thing. If Dan had gone forward with it, it would've ruined his career in Washington.
"We see ourselves as post-tax".
"You get what, a million dollars? After taxes that's like $500k, that's nothing."
"A girl gets tired."
"Take that and shove it up your SOUL"
I couldn't even look at the screen once the word fracking came up., though Mike's utter uselessness still came through in the audio alone.

Dan's explosion after Selina just wouldn't make up her goddamned mind was amazing.
Everything involving Jonah and the church of Ryantology was great. Even Mike got to be awesome this week.
Also loved Kent's robotic flirting with Sue.

Best character in the show by miles. He's the Malcolm Tucker of Veep.

Last week's "just pick a fucking number" scene was spectacular. He is headed for a break down lol
Plus, renewed (along with Silicon Valley).
