@jonxp I was checking out the android app (well done BTW) and noticed that a few of the button photos were not loading (basicallygeek's banned, Enigmas's Bonus creeper, KellyShepard's N7 for example). Do we need to make sure that we use a specific file type?
Also had some craziness going on with the app while it was syncing and eventually the process crashed. I submitted the Google report then realized that as the developer you may never see these logs. Do you get data logs from Google when someone reports? I was hoping that it might help you with debugging.
Just finished my button: http://buttoneering.org/buttons/298 Features a Human Transmutation Circle (FMA and FMA: and Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock (TBBT) as well as my twitter (although the pic makes it hard to read any of it :P)

If someone can hook that up into the proper format/size and send it to my username at hotmail that would be awesome.
Out of curiosity, is that your art? It's seems a little off-putting to use someone else's art for your button. I'd get permission from them before printing. Also, the template to make buttons through purebuttons can be downloaded off their website here, http://www.purebuttons.com/templates

Agreed. Deviant art has a great group of people though who love to share. So just message the person and they might even have a high res version they will let you use. You might offer to credit them on the rim of the button.

Thirded. It's one thing to use commercial images or screengrabs (see my button/avatar for an example), but it's something else to use art or photography from an artist. The dog buttons I made last year (and bonus button for this year) were done by a friend of mine, and even though they're my dogs and I paid her for the work, I still asked for permission before making them into buttons. And for another example, there is an incredibly beautiful painted portrait of Jareth on DeviantArt that I considered using before I found this screengrab from the crystal ballroom scene, and I was ready to email the artist to ask her permission before using it.

The current Android app is being thrown away. I took some shortcuts to make it, and as a result, it's trash. (To all you app devs out there, let this be a lesson to you not to use Appcelerator for Android). I'm making a new one, and hopefully I can throw in some new features along with stability.

I'm hoping so :P The only words that actually matter though are the border words (my twitter and PAX Prime '12) the words in the circle are just random words that have to do with alchemy xD I could spring for a larger size, or edit the font size if it seems too small. Any one else think so? I'd be a pretty good idea to change it
Not sure if anyone else was looking at getting the option for printing on acetate (aka metallic finish) but thought I would share what I learned.
It's an additional .10 per button for 1.5" (less for smaller). There are color limitations where the design is white/very light colored, it will turn out a silver color. Otherwise, they said my Captain America shield would work perfect for it.
I just ordered my buttons! I will upload them when I get home tonight. I found a seller on Etsy that I was able to get 150 1.5" buttons (100 in one design and 50 in another) for $33 including shipping. I will let people know how they turn out!

I gotta admit, I'm not a Brony, but I really do appreciate all the creativity that those of you who do hold the love put into it.
Honestly, there's a whole lot of amazing creativity that goes into all of the buttoneers' task here. I wish I hadn't missed out on this in previous years, and I'm really glad that there were so many friendly [E] who clued me in on it. I'm continually amazed at all the neat little sidequest things of PAX--I've attended for four years and each year, I learn about something new and amazing that I missed before.
I posted a picture of my buttons on the Buttoneering site! I didn't know how to take off the red lines though so those are still showing.
Nice ones. I like em both. In order to remove the red lines, you need to create the button graphic file with "layers" so the red lines are a separate layer as the picture itself. Then, once you are done lining everything up, you can make the layer with the red lines invisible and then dump out a copy to PNG/JPG. At least, that's how I do it in GIMP.
So just a thought on a button...hubby was thinking of using the Dwarf Fortress face with a Sims Plumbbob on top with our handles (we wanted one button that represents us both). Thought on if that's a good design? Reasons we shouldn't use it? I'm new so I don't really know if there are restrictions to what you should/shouldn't use on a button. O_o

Sounds good to me. We're pretty small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, so as long as you're not hocking your button on eBay or something you should be fine. Of course, there is always a risk in using copyrighted material, blah blah blah, use at your own risk, blah blah blah. I think your idea is cute.
I like making nifty things for PAX. I think for this PAX Prime I'm going to turn my attentions to buttons. I'll have some avatar buttons, but I'm also going to make some pretty unique bonus buttons. Here is an uncolored prototype of what I'm planning. It measures about 3 inches wide. When I get the materials, I'm going to make a version colored like the character on my cell phone charm.

Yes, it was printed on a 3d printer. This should allow me to run as many copies as I have time and patience for. I'm planning on printing the main body, then filling in the various areas with colored ABS paste (which dries and leaves solid ABS). I got a good deal on some 1" pin backs to weld in as well (1576 for $53). The plastic material will probably run about a dollar each (the body is half an ounce). Considering the size, shape, and nature of the button, I'd say the pricing is about on par with the button companies. The big difference is that you have to do the work on it yourself. My plan for the bonus requirements will be a donation for the Cookie Brigade.

So, I would love to get another picture of everyone this year, but I'm usually not able to attend the "after the omegathon" meetup because of Enforcing related duties. Would anyone be averse to having a "during PAX" meetup to get a shot of us all? We'd have to wait till the schedule comes out, but I think it might be doable.

Hrm I don't think we did a group photo at Prime last year, we all met outside after the omegathon and did the massive button trade but we didn't line up for a photo ... or at least if they did we were long gone by that time, if there is one can someone upload it for the rest of us?

We only did it our first year. I figure fifth anniversary would be a good time for an update.
Saturday morning before the doors open isn't a bad idea. We may still lose a couple early-shift Enforcers, but it'll be better than the usual after-PAX meetup where we lose basically all of them. Unless anyone has a good reason to not do it then, I think that's a go ahead.

Okay, finally uploaded the design for the remainder of my 2010 buttons, but still trying to figure out my design(s) for this year. I'm almost certain one of them will be this avatar (or based on it) but not 100% yet.
