Mismatch in number of pages in a thread

Occasionally, the thread listing on a forum page will say there are X+1 pages, and when accessing the thread, the last page will instead be X. Clicking on the last indexed page on the forum listing (X+1) will take you to the last (Xth) page of the thread.
