LTT Silver Case: Flower, Sun & Rain

(PS2 OP > DS OP)

So there might've been a thread about it here a while back(Gilder?), but that was like years ago. Finally grabbed this before it vanishes.

I was skeptical at first, but now I'm hooked. Great puzzles, twisted plot. All the Suda goodness that Shadows of the Damned(and next gen Grasshopper in general) lacks.

I'm doing the (hilarious) kid quests now, and I have to ask: will the extra search missions affect the ending or anything like that?

Will any of this make sense, or is my mind going to be effed with worse than how Killer7 did me?
(Disclaimer: I've never played any of The Silver Case games, unless K7 and the NMH games count.)

The story is pretty dang crazy, but you can understand the main story for the almost most part. The problem is that the game's story isn't finished in FSR, it's finished in the sequel. The sequel we never got and probably never will. I think it's just called "The Silver Case". It really sucks too, because once stuff starts picking up it gets real good. The extra puzzles don't affect the ending I'm pretty sure, they're just for little extra things. Some of them are really hard too. I like the one where it wants you to count the number of lights on the hotel sign.

I still really like this game and it's a shame more people didn't play it. More people need to walk for 5 minutes straight doing nothing while listening to classical music remixes.

FSR is the sequel to the Silver Case. If you're curious about Silver Case, it's up on Japanese PSN, but be aware that it's basically a graphic novel written in Japanese. There's also a semi-prequel to the Silver Case called Moonlight Syndrome.

I think I heard that the story is still unfinished? And yeah, the stuff from SC on youtube looks great.

Is Killer7 or NMH tied into it at all?

Guess whatever source I read about TSC was wrong on when it takes place in the storyline.

I don't want to get into details, but the games are only connected thematically. Each game is its own story, and they have stuff which contradict each other.

Don't expect the plot to make any sense in any way and you'll be fine. Just bathe in the surreal glow of it all.

I'm truly amazed this game ever made it (a) to a DS port and (b) over to these shores, as its appeal must be the nichest of niche. As an inhabitant of said niche I'm very grateful, just also amazed.

I'm eager for Suda to return to his mindfuck roots. Maybe those times are gone.

Mr. Banballow was so badly maimed, he turned into a hideous monster, oozing and bleeding, snarling and growling like a beast---enraged and bent on revenge. He tracked down the kids responsible for the fire and killed them one by one----with a blowtorch. That wasn't enough for Banballow. He won't leave his inn or his memories, so there he waits....in ambush....

Killer7 is part of the "Kill the Past" trilogy.

I might pick up FSR after getting Xenoblade this friday.

killer7 as far as I know, isn't really a part of Kill the Past. Moonlight Syndrome, Ths Silver Case and FSR share the same universe and characters, while killer7 simply shares some of it's themes. There was this site that had tons of info on the series, but I can't remember its name right now.

The new Grasshopper game Killer is Dead seems to be a return to Kill the Past mindfuckery, at least on first glance. We'll see.

I get the impression all these happy go lucky adventures are setting me up for one heck of a fall.

    And yeah, KID looks wonderful.

From my cursory reading about the ending, sounds like Silver Case fills in a lot of the blanks.

It left me just kind of perplexed. What a drastic turn into crazy town.

An early beta trailer of killer7 also had Sundance Shot appear in it.

And those weird shots of the moon whenever you start a new chapter is supposedly related to Moonlight Syndrome.

I wanted so much to like FSR, but it felt like the game actually resented me for playing it

The walking really didn't bother me much. I played the game in spurts, which helped. A chapter or so at a time.

Welcome to every Suda game. Walking through a long ass hallway is basically the mans calling card.
