so someone or something hella killed the alligator out in the pond behind our apartment complex. thing is floating with its four legs up in the air and distended gut, like some fucked up kind of pool toy
Einstein notation is worse. The same written equation can be interpreted about eight different ways depending on the precise context in which it appears, and there are differing conventions concerning what must be explicitly stated and what is assumed to be "obvious".

I picked up Port Royale 3 yesterday. The trading / econoimcs side of things is pretty much exactly like #2. But the sea battles are quite a bit better and the tutorial / campaign is more interesting.

What kind of game is it, Riemann? Like, is it like Sid Meier's Pirates, or totally different?

#2 (which can be had on GoG for a couple bucks) was Pirates! but done more serious and with more depth. Especially on the economic side (in addition to just trading you can start business and even start your own city). So far #3 seems like #2 with a graphical facelift and better sea battles. The main difference was if you had a fleet in #2 you could only bring in one ship at a time. Once you told your current ship to flee, or it sunk, you pick the next out of your available ships. In #3 you can bring in your fleet.
Really I've just found that it was very badly taught or totally ignored by every teacher/lecturer I've had till third year, and then it was pretty much assumed that we knew it inside-out and a detailed knowledge of it is the basis for two classes I have to take next year.
Can someone please post the 'sorry we are banned' profile picture?

Thanks for the summary. That's the right angle I was looking for.
Uhh, Endless Space isn't out yet? I was looking forward to some 4X action.
It is doing the Minecraft thing but through steam. Buy it now and you get the Alpha and the ability to vote for stuff as they add it to the game. So not only do you get to help with bugs/balance but also have a voice in the aesthetics and such.
I never thought of its aesthetics as a flaw. It's ambiguous as all hell though, especially when you start inserting it into larger equations or nesting them.

Fuck that, if there is one thing Japan is worse at than healthy sexual relationships it is comfortable footwear.

Could you summarize why?

That's sad.

You couldn't integrate this into the existing quote tree on the subject?

Oh and #3 has multiplayer.
I bought it this morning and it let me download the Alpha. I had to try it a few times before it would actually download.

Word in the Endless Space thread is that the alpha is damned good.
Turns out it's a pretty good album all around
Love when that happens.

Also, severance and joinder rules are mechanical and dull.

Not Your Fault is another great song from that album. I was kind of meh about the rest of it, but that and Sail are excellent.
