A new alternative/indie radio station to listen to
I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with Boston's 101.7 WFNX, but I just got the news that it was bought out by Clear Channel. This sucks especially bad because it was pretty much one of the only radio stations in the Boston area that played indie music for a wider audience, and focused heavily on the local scene, and now it's gone. Needless to say, I'm still kind of taking the news in.
Now that these guys are done, I need to know if there's any other stations online I can follow. Of course, if you don't usually listen to radio, are there any magazines, websites or podcasts you guys could recommend for finding new music that focuses on the alternative music/indie music scene?
I know about Pitchfork and SPIN magazine, as well as the music section of the Onion AV Club. I also subscribe to KEXP's Song Of The Day Podcast, would KEXP in Seattle be a good station to listen to all the time? Any suggestion you guys might have would be appreciated.
This is a terrible day for Boston radio, and the local music scene. I'm really gonna miss FNX.

They have a good variety of programming and run a lot of concerts, play a lot of local music and things of that nature. The advertising doesn't make me want to drive a spike through my head either.
WYEP.org
"Indie Rock" preset genre station on Pandora
Live stream it from mpr.org or thecurrent.org it is the minnesota public radio affiliate music station and hence, indie as possible. So indie it thinks that "it belongs in a museum" and then punches a nazi. It's more indie than Mario Andretti's racecar.
No for profit station will match it.
Does anyone know if there's another Boston station that plays alternative music?

From their website:
KDHX Community Media is the name for the operations of the Double Helix Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts and educational organization with a mission to build community through media, with diverse and independent voices that enrich the perspectives of our audiences. We promote civic and cultural participation by providing the tools, technology, and training vital to informed, creative expression. The Double Helix Corporation was formed after the demise of KDNA, a countercultural community-radio station that operated in Saint Louis's Gaslight Square district in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The corporation is independent of any governmental entity and is not affiliated with any religious or educational organization.
The format is generally 2-3 hour long scheduled sets hosted by different DJ's, representing different genres. On the left hand side, if you select Radio->Shows & Schedule you'll see a list of all shows with links describing their format with the ability to listen to 2-3 archived shows.
This is the only radio station that is allowed to play in my car.
Also, their collection of in studio performances: http://www.youtube.com/user/kdhx/videos
Thanks, I'll check them out. I've been listening to 95.5 and 92.9 in the meantime but they don't hold a candle to 101.7

In addition to lamenting the loss of WFNX, I'm all kinds of pissed that they turned 103.3 oldies into yet another Top 40 station. There's already at least two other stations that sound exactly the same as the new 103.3.
One thing that kinda softened the blow, though, is that WFNX actually isn't fully dead. They are still streaming at WFNX.com, and some of the older DJs like Julie Kramer and Henry Santoro are starting up something over at Boston.com too. It sucks that I can't listen to FNX in my car anymore without a smartphone though. I guess I'm just gonna have to hope that there's something to this idea that the Internet is the future of radio.
Once again, thank you guys so much for all your suggestions. I'll definitely be checking out KDHX too.
