Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Free route tracking for browser or iOS

A few disclaimers:

1) I don't care about pace. If those features are included that's fine, but I'm not walking for time.

2) I don't care about gamification. Integration with Facebook or the ability to 'challenge' friends or win badges is unnecessary. I'm fine with a solo experience.

That said, I am looking for a basic, free, route-tracking solution for walking and running. I have an iPhone 3GS, though it doesn't have data connectivity. I am fine either using some iOS app that will allow me to track on GPS alone (I have all the surrounding map data cached in Maps... so hopefully this app would be ok with that) or just entering the route manually like with that Google Pedometer tool.

Advice?

Not tried it myself, but I know a number of people who use mapmyrun.com which also has a free app.

There's a couch to 5K app that does route tracking, and the Nike+GPS app is free and does a pretty good job as well. I think the couch to 5K app is called "Run5K" and works with the nike app.
