Well, from experience, mobs don't move out of Hundred Blades. Maybe because its not a ground targeted aoe.

Ha ha, I was fighting a bandit mob in BWE 3, and she totally dodge-rolled out of one of my attacks, then stabbed me in the back. I was like, "No fair, that's MY job!"

It doesn't feel like they care overmuch about PvE balance, with PvP being the game's main focus. Burst specs are also hardly ideal for chained or drawn out PvE encounters. The cool down on the 100B burst is long. Sustained damage trumps burst damage in PvE by a long shot. Any boss monster has ridiculous amounts of HP, even low level public quests take forever.

I was watching a Anet stream with one dude plaing this very mobile thief build. He ended up on the bad end of a 3v5 tournament and managed to keep it within 20 points till about 250 when one of his 3 left. Even then, he NEVER DIED ONCE.

It was insane. This was the first time I saw someone just show how skilled you can get and just completely embarrass people. Its also making me buy that 6th char slot and making a thief and playing that build, because it looked like so much fun.

Actually the cooldown on Hundred Blades is 8 seconds, which is fairly low. The real problem with Greatswords is that its Burst skill does very lackluster damage (which is probably why all of its burst is in Hundred Blades), not overall DPS, though that burst skill does let you maintain 100% uptime on Fury with For Great Justice. You can also switch with something that does have a nice damaging Burst skill, like Axes.

Also, Greatsword's 1 slot stacks Vulnerability, which is awesome on event bosses (on everything really).

In BW1 I was using pistol/dagger, with a shortbow as my secondary. I was doing mostly wuv, so I didn't have access to all the tricks this guy did, but it was super fun and survivable.

Two stealths, and all the mobility that a shortbow gives is awesome.

I never even THOUGHT about just using the same weapon set twice cause you don't care about cooldowns with initiative.

Shortbow is wonderful on a thief.

  • Kai_SanKai_San Registered User regular
Onw of the first big thief builds that was cause for MULTIPLE nerfs took advantage of that fact.

Sigil of intelligence and doom (old doom which was 30% more damage on next hit) and a specific thief build and setup allowed you to instagib someone for 14kish backstabs due to mass damage bonuses and the garunteed crit from weapon switch.

And you could pretty easilly replicate it after the stealth CD is up with a somewhat lesser but still insane damage repeat if you timed it right.

But yeah, he is using the 950ish lifesteal (which means its free damage AND heal) and I think the 50% endurance on weapon swap. Which is incredible synergy with that build.

I had no idea how good pistol MH could be for bleed damage allowing you to get almost all your damage from that and use initiative for what you really need. And the fuggin tree. I never saw that before, thats silly and incredible at the same time.

I don't have a link to a specific one, but you just need to pick up all the condition on crit traits and orient towards condition dmg and crit chance.

The elixir build is actually combined with this from what I've seen, since the Utility skills are completely up in the air.

I was looking around and found what appears to be a good dps/survivability build from a youtube video I watched. More excited for this build than the pistol/shield build.

100B, yes, but Frenzy has a 60s cooldown recharge, which I think is a fairly common/important part of the build that's been causing all the complaints.

Which is what is hilarious, because now by avoiding the combo you have the tasty treat of a warrior who takes 50% more damage.

One CC on him and there are very few people who can't nearly finish him off just during that debuff.

I played the engineer in bwe 1 for about 80% of it, and then dropped it on bwe2 because the class really needed work. Then tried it again during 3 after the changes. I like the class, but after playing it quite a bit (and watching some of the pvp vids out there), it just seems that it's one of those classes that has to do 4x the work to accomplish the same goals. You know the type, an mmo always has one. The class where it takes 5 actions to accomplish what random other class x does in like 1.

Don't get me wrong, there are several neat abilities and the flavor is very cool, but when the rubber meets the road it still just feels like I'm having to work really hard. Harder than it should be. Normally this isn't a problem in a game because I'll play one class and never look at anything else, but with the beta weekends it was easy to just roll up a ranger, thief, warrior, and necro and all of them felt like "wow, that's all I have to do??".

That would force AF on for all games. That isn't necessarily bad, but it should also be possible to tie the modified settings to a specific .exe (the gw2.exe in this case) so that it only overrides the defaults for that game (the defaults mostly being "application controlled"). I haven't used nvidia for a while so I can't remember how to do that.

x16 AF should be fine on a 670

Im thinking of starting up an independent guild to penny arcades. Its going to be solely focused on dungeon hard modes. Its less of a guild and more of a hub for people to find other people to run dungeons with, its not suppose to act as a main guild. To take advantage of the multi-guild thing and cross server guesting. Ill be advertising it in different places then here because like i said, its too act independently from penny-arcade and im not trying too split the community up. Just wanted to know what you guys would think.

Ill be organizing runs and try too promote a no spoiler mentality. Thinking of calling it "The dark and damp initiative" or "Dark and Damp enterprise" [Damp].
