Anyone seen the Conan show live?

I'm planning on taking my friend to it this fall, as she's a huge fan and has yet to see him live.

Assuming we win the lottery (and we should win, as I'm applying for virtually everyday in October), I'm just curious as to what to expect, and more importantly, what seats to try and get.

From what I've read online, apparently you arrive in the morning and are placed in a group. Then you return in the afternoon, and you're seated based on what group you're in. The first group is seated in the front, followed by the second group, etcetc. I want to be sure that we get good seats, though. My friend is 4'11" and I don't want to be stuck behind a camera or whatever to where she can't see anything. Any idea what group we should aim for so we get seats near the front-ish and in the middle? I figure we can get there in the morning and then just watch people go buy and sign up at the proper time (so if you guys recommend being in groups seven through ten or whatever, we'll wait until the ticketing person says that many groups are signed up and then give our names).

Thanks! Also any advice tips in general about this experience would be great. I've only been to LA once (she's similarly inexperienced) so maybe some restaurant recommendations for afterwards would also be appreciated.

I hate you and you hate me.

The only thing I can tell you from taking the NBC 30 Rock tour last year is that be prepare for it to be cold. They pump the place with cold air to keep people awake.

Conan is filmed at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, not 30 Rock. Colding it up could be standard practice, though.

Not sure if everyone does it but Letterman keeps his studio at like 60 degrees if I remember correctly as well.

If it's anything like Leno, expect a long lineup time. It was confusing so get there early to pickup tickets. Hang around to make sure you get in. Plus, we didn't have choice on ticket seating :S even though we where international visitors.

I don't know why you think this should have made you entitled to special consideration, but:

Anyway, OP, there is pretty much nothing you can do to guarantee yourself a good seat at a taping other than getting there stupid early.

Considering I'm spending money in your country, I should be entitled to special consideration dammit!!! :P
Should have mentioned, before going, I had read on the internet that international visitors to Leno and Letterman get good seats. We where treated like every other pleb in line.

Ahhh...fair enough, lol. Having never heard of that, it sounded an awful lot like Ugly American Entitlement. "WHADAYA MEAN I GOT WAIT ON THIS LINE TO SEE YOUR FANCY PAINTINGS! IF IT WERENT FER MY GRANDAD YOUD ALL BE SPEAKING GERMAN!"

They don't do that at the East Coast tapings I've been to, but Stewart and Colbert usually ask about out-of-towners when they're doing the pre-show Q&A.
