Getting on with this

Does anyone know if it's possible to manipulate the layer styles as a separate layer? I'm having trouble with the batman logo because the part of it that makes it look like ice is a layer style and it gets all kinds of fucked up as you can see (case in point, the bat's tail).

Is the batman logo done in vectors? I don't know about directly manipulating styles, but rasters tend to produce poor edge effects.
