The Dark Knight Rises is the third and supposedly final Batman film from Chris Nolan. It stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway. I saw it recently, and found it to be very loud, and kind of uninteresting. What did you think??

I finally saw DKR. Definitely more in the vein of Begins than Dark Knight. Still pretty great.

Since there's no opportunity to slip a third Batman vs Bane fight anywhere, his solution was "have Bane be the judge at the kangaroo court, and the trial is having to fight him. Throw a bunch of random guys from the rogue gallery in there and watch em get murdered!"

I was gonna call him dumb, then imagined the scrawnier guys like Joker and Scarecrow dogpiling on Bane and thought yeah. I'd like to see that.

I actually liked this movie more than The Dark Knight
Same kind of grandeur but not as reliant on tension that simply isn't going to be sustainable on repeated viewings

Overall, the most satisfying movie of the year for me

The fights between Bane & Batman were fine. Not to much or too little. Besides

He's super intuitive and smart when the plot needs him to be but then he goes back to normal intelligence when they don't want him to be super smart. He hates guns when the plot says he should hate guns but then has no problem with gun during other times.

The gun issue with Robin John Blake isn't a huge issue for the character. Blake was a little rattled killing those construction workers that worked for Bane but I never thought he gave up on guns because of it. Nowhere near Batman's level. It was something like a minute or two before he was grabbing that shotgun and never being concerned about guns again because he's not fucking Batman, he needs to be armed or he'd be dead half way though the movie because Bane doesn't fuck around with his opponents.

I was talking more about his seeming disdain for guns after he kills the two henchmen posing as construction workers and he threw his gun down with disgust. The way he acted, it seemed like he didn't want to touch another gun again. Yet, he's perfectly fine with guns after that. It seems like that moment was put there just so they could have him relate to Batman more but it's inconsistent with the character for the rest of the movie.

I never said that he stopped being intelligent. I said that he switched between super intelligent/intuitive to normal intelligence.

For example, he's super intuitive when he figured out that Bruce is Batman and when figures out where Jim Gordon ended up after being shot by Bane. He also displays some kind of incredible marksmanship when he ricochets a bullet to kill one of Bane's henchmean. Yet, he fails to display that level of intuitiveness in several other instances.

This movie was super rad, I loved it.

It was different from tdk, I would say I like them equally.

It was much more of a superheroy movie, and I think it's pretty funny that all the people who complained about the previous movies not being batman enough are having similar but opposite complaints about this movie.

loved the whole character. the scene where he kills bane's men wasn't his "OH NO GUNS OH NO" moment, he doesn't have one. he had just killed two people, any normal person would be understandably upset about that. add onto that the two guys who could possibly give him answers are now gone, so that's not good either

but at the end of the day blake is a plain old police officer, and there is work to do. so when he figures out gordon is in danger, absolutely he grabs a gun again.

see, for the gun scene, i think it was something more along the lines of him reacting to the whole ricochet killing the dude unintentionally. kind of his "bruce wayne realizing how fucked guns are" moment. doesn't mean he would never use them again at that point, just a nice little revelation and build to his character. as a cop, he shouldn't get too messed up by killing dudes, and in fact, killing the first dude didn't phase him. it was the way the second one dies that got to blake.

I think people are missing the point of that scene:

It wasn't about the gun. It was the first time he realized that being a cop meant certain rules he had to follow. He's a cop, people try to kill him, he's trained to return fire, and because he had a gun, he used it, and because he used it, he ended up killing two potential witnesses, instead of just restraining/subduing them in some other way.

It's subtle, but that's what I read from it.
