I was working as a videogame designer for a giant shitty company until last year. then I quit and decided to focus on writing instead. my book is called, 'I am my own betrayal' and came out earlier this summer and contains videogame stories, though it's also not strictly about videogames.
one story is based on how, at one point, I was working on browsed-based online games aimed at children, and I remember feeling at that time really lost and purposeless and like I was dying faster than I should be dying, but then at the same time I had to stare all day long at insanely happy 2D creatures at work, like smiling cartoon bears or something, and I kept thinking things like, ‘I hate you guys so much.’
this is a nonfiction thing by me that came out in april about working in games, being depressed, anorexia, other stuff.
I've been reading penny-arcade on & off for several years, not sure I've ever posted in the forums.
