Ah Tera, I need to get back to you. That game is just soooo pretty. The first time you fly into the main city after doing the intro zone is to me probably the most visually impressive moment I've experienced in an mmo.
those daggers are ridiculous in the best possible way
also that head wing thing is rad as well
What's really neat is that the 2 side blades fold up when the daggers are "sheathed" and there is a very satisfying "Snikt" sound when you unsheath them and the blades spring out and the glowy bits turn on.
Both the Daggers (or rather a component of the Daggers) and the Hat came out of Turn 11 in the new Raid content which we just managed to beat on Monday

I'm hoping to bang it out this weekend at the latest so I'll have it down before Dec 9th. Oddly enough it seems to be going faster the second time around.

I know it sounds weird, but once I had a hard number to determine how close I was, I didn't find it as mind numbing as it was when I was just guessing how far along I was.

Absolutely, I use an app that calculates my light, and track how much light i'm earning per grind session. It's comforting to know how much progress total I've made (and my light/hour) and it helps me estimate my future sessions to plan out how I want to complete it.
Last night was a bit frustrating because T4 was bright but the group that I joined wasn't very good at clearing it. Still got a bit of light but its looking like the weekend is my best bet (i'll still get a bit during the week though if I can manage it)

There is but not exactly. You find out what has the bonus by running dungeons/primals/coil and finding out, you then network that information to the community.
To find out how much progress you have you have an item which updates every 200 light you have obtained, so there are essentially 10 stages that it goes through. It's not exact but it gives a general idea of your progress.
When they first announced the new step they mentioned that it would take collaboration within the community to get the most out of the step, and what ended up happening is that websites and players documented and collaborated to track which dungeons/primals/coil had the bonus (it changes every 2 hours). There are light farming linkshell, and websites that track it as well as some third party applications (some that interact with the game and some that don't) that help track it as well. The community was also able to figure out exactly how much light you get for each light type which resulted in figuring out the most efficient way to farm it up.
Even without all that though if you just use your weapon and do stuff you'll eventually get it done without knowing anything whatsoever.

There was a small standalone app that would give you the exact number, I finished mine before 2.4 but I think it was updated. (Keep in mind 3rd party apps technically against ToS, use at own risk, etc)

Because I have to have GW2 with me everywhere, I installed it on a Dell Venue tablet. With nearly all settings at minimum and a low resolution it's surprisingly playable. Enough to feed my addiction anyway.
