PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE MIRACLE MASK COMES OUT TOMORROW
IT'S A 3DS GAME! IT IS NOT A DS GAME
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is the fifth game in the Professor Layton series, and I think the plan is for it to be the second last. The game is supposedly set between game 4 (which was a prequel) and the original, so maybe we'll get more Emmy adventures and more angsty eight-year-old Luke action.
There are going to be free daily DLC puzzles for one year after release
You can buy the game straight from the eShop so you don't even have to get out of your chair! Or maybe you do, if you don't have your 3DS right next to you?
If you're new to the series, the Professor Layton games are SUPER CHEESY MYSTERY NOVELS set in anachronistic alternate England. You progress through the game by solving riddles! Every single thing you touch will turn out to be some sort of ridiculously contrived premise to solve a logic puzzle or do a math problem.
Historically the puzzles have been really challenging and clever (using the digits 1-9 once each, fill in the blanks: _ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ = 33333, for instance), and I've heard that they use the 3D very effectively

How the fuck are they going to have a more ridiculous storyline than
1) Everyone was secretly a robot
2) Everyone was actually tripping for the last sixty years and that's why they thought there was a vampire
3) Everyone was actually an actor being paid to be in a secret movie set of future London that was under real London and also there was a giant robot and also time travel turned out to be real after all
4) The Loch Ness Monster fought a bunch of robots and somehow puzzle solving turned the tide in their battle, which then lead Layton to like, Atlantis or something? I forget how this one ended tbqh

i wonder how long this'll take to download? it said it's 6300ish Blocks of data on the 3ds sd card but i have no idea how much that is, or how strong my internet connection is

Miracle Mask, the one that just came out, is the 5th one
you also missed the 4th one, Last Specter (or Specter's Call), which was still on the DS
The guy with the crescent moon chin and shifty eyebrows is amazing.
I'm loving this game so far, investigating/moving around is far easier now and the 3D/transitioning between areas looks really nice.
And the intro theme is so damn good.

With the next game it will be six games and a movie.
