You guys can't just plug it in and find out?
Oughta be able to -- if it works on your PC as a mic, then it should work. I think...
Well.. Yeah, but I don't want to go digging through the boxes in my garage to find it only to discover that it doesn't work
As does iChat.
And some other program that has versions for Mac, Linux, and Windows, but I forget its name.
This is only for Windows and Linux.
Don't be stupid. So it's the AOL Time Warner Turner conglomerate that's letting you use your little internet phone instead of AT&T? Or do you get DLS from the same company you buy phone service from? Come on, cut the bullshit.
id = themarshall16 Damn my name being taken.
*edit* well, this sucks. to be able to receive calls, i need to be able to accept connectins on whatever port. Bleh, no Skype for me.
Ventrilo is the software me and my friends use (2.1.4 is free for unlimited use, and newer versions are restricted to 8 ppl at a time), and it is extremely efficient when it comes to games. Very small memory footprint, consumes nearly no cpu and near nothing in bandwidth!
I mainly use it for games, so stuff like that matters to me.
Oh, and because of that, I also don't use a USB headset (I use the standard one I got with the ut2k4 SE DVD edition). A USB headset hogs resources like mad, since it doesn't use your soundcard for all things, but rather emulates shit with some sort of driver.
EDIT: You can't restrict incoming Skype calls to certain ports? Baha, noway then.
EDIT 2: Skype claims encryption on both ends and also better sound quality than normal phones. I guess that rules it out for using it with games, then, since that is bound to hog more cpu/bandwidth than Ventrilo.
EDIT 3: Err, how many ppl at the same time can Skype handle? I haven't found any numbers, but mebbe I'm blind...
According to Snuffle, a two-way conference uses up about 3kb/sec, both ways. I'm not sure how much adding a few people would affect that.
No extra numbers or anything.
I suck at conversation.
I blame me.
At least it works well.
How well did my voice come through?
Err.....my microphone was on mute.
I heard you quite well, you had music on at first too.
2) The bandwidth is uses is about 3.7k/sec both up and down for a 2 way convo
3) There is a Mac OSX version is the works that should be out shortly
4) You specify what port you want to use to listen for connections
See, now you can call Talith and harass him about taking your name. While you're at it, call SniperGuy up as well. Fucker made me add numbers.
:?
post so people can call and abuse you!
"Hello sir, would you be interested in upgrading to Skype pro? For only 19.95 you can call REAL phone numbers!"
Actually, I think you can already - but for a fee.
I THINK.
Janson: Listen bitches, just shut up and get back to licking my floor clean.
I'm not dealing with your kind of crap today.

Steam
Need someone to test calling with..
i downloaded it, but from what I understand, it isn't any different than, say, Ventrilo or Teamspeak.
Wii: 8919.1676.0531.7255
