I dunno, im somewhat looking forward to it now. I thought it was just gonna be Sonic running through stages. But with with the humor Lego is known for and now that his friends are with em I expect some kinda hilarious shinanigans during the game.
I do wish a Tails Lego fig would come out though.
Theres usually a figure pack or and a basic pack for a theme so Tails is still possible
I wouldn't say "usually," as the series has loads of one-offs. And Tails' plane being included in Sonic's set isn't a good sign. But anything's possible.
Getting a Sonic CD vibe from all these new stages. Which is great, I loved that you had to find something within the level to really appreciate how well done the stage and backgrounds are. Can't wait to explore the new zones in search of the Warp Rings. c:
I'm usually pretty skeptical of "big open world where you just kinda run aimlessly around" but there was a kind of infectious joy in that video, and the little hidden cavern / temple had some pretty cool tricks in it that I could see giving the game some real meat. The game just looks fun to play.
Took literally five seconds of gameplay before I started feeling dizzy and nauseated. There's just something about 3D Sonic fan games that do this to me.

There's a lot of work that needs to go into the camera (FOV, movement speed, movement curves, etc) to prevent nausea in these sorts of games and it's likely that work hasn't been done yet at the point this preview is at.
Oh, if anyone's looking to get into Lego Dimensions because of this, it'll all be on steep discounts for Black Friday, including the Sonic set.
And yes, you can finish the (lengthy) main game without buying any extra sets. The other stuff give you characters with different abilities so you can collect more gold bricks and such, as well as franchise-specific worlds and (in the more expensive stuff like Sonic) bonus levels.
Oh, and GLaDOS from Portal is in it. A lot.
(Super-deluxe spoiler that finally sent me over the edge and got me to buy the game)
Still love Vela Nova as a backdrop to that rival fight.

I think the biggest disparity between soundtrack and game was Sonic Heroes. Cause that soundtrack is off the fucking hook, and the game is very much on or adjacent to the hook.
It had a cool gimmick of remixing the music for each act, like Sonic 3 did. It even extended to the boss fights, with Egg Albatross being a remix of the Bullet Station stage

Some incredible level design is going into this thing.
Which is good! I just hope at some point it stops being a mix of CG and live-action.
... I would watch it.
NerdCubed plays the Sonic Utopia demo. It actually looks really good.

Music has very rarely been a problem in Sonic games, even the awful ones.

Isn't Crush 40 the best thing about the Sonic franchise?
You say this like it's a bad thing.

It really, really is.
Generations' version of Stardust Speedway's bad future from Sonic CD was one of my favorite tracks in that game.
