Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

your libido is monstrous and unkillable, I'm sure even in the event of a tactical nuclear strike it'd manage to emerge intact from the rubble, mutated into an unquenchable many headed beast, each one with an equally suggestive and talented mouth, like some kind of sex hydra.

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. After a lifetime of writing, teaching, broadcasting and telling too many jokes, I will leave behind more memes than many. I am just tooling around with chicago apartments on zillow

what i did when looking for places was type in the directions from the prospective apartment to my work using google maps (they have a nifty public transportation feature that works very well for chicago)

Why do so many vloggers not edit their videos? Like, something will happen - maybe their phone rings - and the video keeps going as they deal with that. Just edit your video.

Looks like I might be getting that 30k house and fixing the shit out of it. Gonna make it art.
I'm thinking about picking up a pretty cheap place as well, do some work on it. It's absolutely insane how high rents still are with how absurdly cheap houses are. I could do 15 years fixed and have the mortgage on a small 2/2 be half of the rent on a similarly sized apartment, hell, just a bit more than half of what a studio runs around here, although they're uncommon. Property taxes aren't that bad either, although homeowners insurance rates suck.
It's crazy because the house is probably worth 160,000. Needs about 30-40k worth the work. If that. Needs new doors, new windows, possibly insulation and a remodeled bathroom and new floors.
I could probably yank out the carpets and fix the doors in a week.
Still need to petition my trustee to write a letter of approval for a home loan. Though I don't see why someone wouldn't loan me that money, I mean I've been employed at the same place for almost a decade, make more than enough to cover it, and would be saving $400 a month just in raw rent costs (including the property tax). Plus the 30K covers the repairs so it's unlikely something glaring would happen in the future.

by train do you mean the subway system or the commuter rail (metra)?
the L I think
the metra is for to/from suburbs, right?
Yup. Also we have a super duper bus system that i actually like better than the L (although the L is usually faster for getting downtown, depending on where you are)

I don't think I was particularly diplomatic in telling her that it looked unprofessional and she needs to stahp.

Everything I've heard is that no, not actually.
Probably because most of the people who talk about it are Texan, and believe that everything from Texas is better.
Ask them about Texas history if you want to hear them be wrong about other things, too.
