No, I'm sorry, but the story was the weakest part of that movie.

After he mentioned the hypnosis chick I could see that coming from a mile away.

Oldboy is not some kind of cinema classic, not by far.

I'm not writing off the merits of the entire film because a guy was crying.

I'm writing some of them off because I thought the story was weak.

    OH NOES

And then I made fun of the guy crying. Mmmmkay?

That one sounded interesting, but I never got around to renting it.
So, does he just spend the whole movie hating himself or what?

about 5 minutes in he kills himself, then it's a 2 hour static shot of his grave.

Something like that, but obviously its a little more than just hate. I don't wanna spoil it, but I definitely recommend it. The main actor is AMAZING, and pulls it off very well.

I thought it was okay, but not great. A lot of the jokes were just really, really, really base and not super clever, and a lot of it was more heavy-handed than I would have liked.

But it certainly had its moments.

Quite seriously though: Chopping Mall. If only for the back cover synopsis --

"Some people will kill for a bargain...and at the Park Plaza Mall they do! Here, you can shop until you drop...dead!

High tech robots equipped with state-of-the-art security devices have been recruited as the new mechanical "night watchmen" for the Park Plaza Mall. When a jolting bolt of lightning short circuits the main computer control, the robots turn into "killbots"...on the loose after unsuspecting shoppers. Four couples are trying to make it after-hours in a mattress store. They make it all right...in the morgue!"
