Where do I go to find Wordpress developers and get bids?

I need a Wordpress plugin, but I don’t have the budget to hire a local developer here in NYC. What’s a legit site for finding competent WP devs and contacting them? I’m not looking for a shady contest site or trying to hire Indians for $10 an hour, I just need to find a couple independent devs who don’t charge big city rates.
