The new company will not only develop video games, but will also create movies and television programming. Dyack says this is where the future is, calling the merging of all three platforms "The Singularity."
I desperately, desperately want to know why, how, and where DD keeps getting capital

Fun fact: Donald Trump took over the management of one of his casinos and ran it into the ground. Let me repeat that: Donald Trump managed to make a casino lose money. Still held up as an avatar of business acumen because of his freakish ability to huck
Dyack and Trump both make Limited Liability look really, REALLY bad.
As for how Dyack is getting more investment money...
Either private investors are on board because of the other people he has on his team, or the Canadian government isn't paying enough attention.
It'll be a shame when it gets wasted. My money is on no tv show or movie at all and a shambled wreck of a game with less than half the scope of what is intended.
Denis Dyack made Eternal Darkness when specifically working under the supervision of Nintendo
Nintendo has this tendency to take a studio that would never get shit done on its own and turn them into quality machines
I mean look at what they did for Retro
By all accounts Metroid Prime was a giant mess for a while, the Nintendo took a little tighter control of the reigns and we got a great game.
By contrast, when Silicon Knights didn't have close supervision their output went to shit.
If SK hadn't had adult supervision from Nintendo, ED would've been out on the N64 and would've likely been one of the many blandly forgettable post-Resident Evil horror adventure games that were released late in that generation. Here's what Dyack himself said in EGM #158:
One of the things during the process of development that was key in bringing up the quality of the game was working with Nintendo. Even though it was a tremendous delay to take the N64 version and move it to the 'Cube, that extra amount of time allowed us to improve everything on all levels. The gameplay was where the largest strides were made, particularly in the last year of development.

I think Dyack is choosing to believe making a successful television show in the post-Netflix era might be easier than trying to make a successful video game.
apparently so according to Dyack and the press are to blame for the previous crowdfunding failures. because who wouldn't want to give their money to Denis Dyack at this point?
The game was dead, this time - it looked - for good.
Until now. Fast forward to May 2016 and Dyack has resurfaced, now on YouTube. He hosts a channel titled The Quantum Tunnel, which claims to offer "an unprecedented look into the making of film, television and video games".
In the latest Quantum Tunnel podcast, Dyack assures his viewers that Shadow of the Eternals is now alive again, although there is nothing yet to show which might back this claim up.
Dyack also commented on why the game's crowdfunding campaigns failed, where at one point he blames "extremely unethical" games journalism.
Back in the real world, we'll wait for more news on Shadow of the Eternals, should it ever materialise.
hmmm, it feels like i've heard that phrase before.... but where? honestly this really just seems like a desperate attempt to become relevant again. on the other hand, chasing a certain group of ethics enthusiasts could be his best bet. they've shown repeatedly that they're willing to throw money at dodgy crowdfunding campaigns.
well right now there's no evidence that anyone is giving him money. i see this more as an attempt to court a new following before launching a new funding initiative. go after the press and get on the good side of everyone's favourite gaming hate mob, then rely on them to throw money at his project with the pretence that they're fighting corruption, defending the down trodden and sticking it to those awful SJWs. i'm sure it'll go exactly as well as you'd imagine.

You mean the crowd that's tiny and absolutely useless at doing anything other than online harassment?
You're right, it's probably attempt number 47 to fund the bastard, but I didn't recognize it as such because it's so asinine.
Is he really going to make it about Ethics in Games Journalism?
No, because then it might lead to more in-depth pieces about how terribly he ran Silicon Knights.
which would just feed into the corrupt/unethical games media narrative. plus he'll get to paint himself as both the victim, for being targeted and the hero, for speaking up in the first place. honestly, if he'd gone this route back when the first two crowdfunding efforts failed, he probably would have been able to profit from it. now however, he's gonna really have to work at selling himself to the seedier part of the internet and hope that they'll willingly adopt him as their latest poster boy.
Eh, I think he's just generally clueless and believes the reason his kickstarters failed is because the press was unduly mean to him, and if they had ethics and didn't obviously lie then this game would have been funded through the roof.
I highly doubt he's trying to intentionally court some tiny pathetic group. He's just an idiot.

I think even they would see it as a desperate attempt to get money.
You'd be surprised. They literally jump on anyone who works in games who publicly agrees with them, no matter how relevant these people are. They're also very good at getting fleeced for money by charlatans, so it's utterly no surprise they see them as a potential audience they can use to get funding for another (presumably doomed to fail) attempt.

But still
The dude made Eternal Darkness
I'm willing to cut him a lot of slack if it means something else similar, 'cause clearly Nintendo isn't doing shit with the IP

Notch would be a great consultant.
