I'm pretty uncomfortable with Feral thanking them in the fifth panel. I continue to be a little disturbed by the level of selflessness she's displaying here, I suppose I would make a terrible superhero.

Part of the problem is that Feral has self confidence issues and this is the only thing she sees herself capable of doing to make a difference.

to take it back to the initial point of discussion i wouldn't mind seeing ~video games~ adopting something similar the comic book approach, where separate entities could look at one anothers' properties through different filters and see what comes out

like how capcom and snk played with each others' characters, or that megaman x fps that got canned, except to a greater extent--take the leash off completely, don't restrict things narratively and just treat it as its own continuity

even though a lot of what resulted from experiments like that would be stupid, like the "gritty reboot" is on the low end of the effort spectrum, i think it would at least be interesting

none of that could ever happen with the industry the way it is now but it's fun to dream about

Gritty reboots can work! Sometimes they're awesome. The problem is too often they're a shortcut to cover bad writing and/or game design.

this blog is the most bizarre hate-filled thing I've ever seen

under the "kate leth" tag they also have a series of comics titled "princess highground" that is just the most incomprehensible attack on the woman

and then there's this weird drawing of Tycho, Gabe, Kate, and Dave Willis (who is "probably a black chick irl") in some sort of "social justice league" parody that hurts my head to think about

I always read things before I report them so I can make an informed decision and I really regret this one. I'm going to feel nauseous with anxiety and simmering rage for hours now.

It's additionally weird to me because I know Kate as a super friendly (if intimidatingly cool) lady who works at the comic shop I go to. Even if they don't care for her feminism I don't know what would elevate her to that level of hatred, instead of just ignoring her.

Cool Kate story: one time there was a little girl in the shop with her Dad + big brother, and her Dad told her it was a boys store and there wasn't anything there for her. Kate would not stand for that and picked out a few comics and gave them to the little girl for free.
