Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

edited July 2013 in Penny Arcade Games
Hello I am Running to something thats annoying me in On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3.

I am on a Vista. I can't seem to run the game. Everytime i start the game i get the "Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 Has Stopped Working" after like 10-30 seconds. Any help to fix this problem so i could play this game? I could run Terraria but i cant run this game. I really wanna play this!

Generally speaking if the game stops working after a few seconds, it's a problem with Windows Media Player or with the .NET or XNA redistributables.

I redownloaded the game, reinstalled the xna and .net and my windows media player is fine. I never seen the tittle of the game or anything. a game window doesn't even pop up. only a "Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 Has Stopped Working" alert after 10-30 seconds of seeing nothing but my desktop.

    Some more suggestions:

Delete the game and reinstall it to make sure that no files were corrupted in the initial download.
Hey, just wanted to let you know that I was able to correct the issue, in case anybody else has trouble. For whatever reason, the security settings on my XNA install were causing issues. This was corrected by going to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\ and adjusting the settings on the GAC_32 and GAC_MSIL folders as follows:

    Right click, go to "Properties"
    Select "Security" tab
    Click on "Advanced" button
    Select "Owner" tab
    Click on "Edit" button
    Select "Administrators"
Select "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" option
    Click "Apply"

Apparently it's been an issue for other people with games using XNA, as I found the solution in a troubleshooting sub-forum for Rogue Legacy, linking back to a Terraria troubleshooting sub-forum.

Having some programs installed can keep Rain-Slick from running properly.
I figured out why the game wouldn't run for me.
    I use COMODO.
The game runs fine without COMODO installed, but after it's installation, the sandbox warning pops up and breaks the game.
You either have to manually fix that or uninstall COMODO completely.
