I know why the X wing and Y wing were abusrdly priced because one of the shops around town is selling them for 30 and has several behind the counter
I find it odd that Target sells the game but to get the other ships you have to look around town or go online for them

When the Tie bomber comes via the mail here with the B wing I will get to try them out and see if I want to change my list

Looks like a local shop trying to cash in on the shortage. Either he got lucky and secured some stock and want to make more profits out of them or he had to pay more to get them so that is why he is charging more. I think option #1 is more likely.

If you're looking for the in-demand wave 1 ships, make sure you check any Barnes and Noble stores near you. I managed to luck out and was able to score two Y-Wings and two X-Wings about a month ago. I also nabbed some Interceptors back when they were sold out at BN.

I'm hoping to actually get to play a full game next week. I keep on playing tutorial games to help new players, or we have an odd number of people show up, so I end up parterning up with a newer guy to help him out against one of my more experienced players (half of which don't blink an eye about running an ugly TIE Swarm list or a Han Shoots First list against a new guy).

Wave 3 stuff should be in stock locally, go look for em' if you can! There is probably going to be a shortage soon, if past releases are anything to go by.

I managed to get my hands on a HWK, it looks goofy and oversized on a small base. But in a good way. : D

First test match with it went pretty well too, Garvin and Kyle just drowned a blaster-turret'ed Y-wing in focus tokens so he could spend a bunch of his actions self-repairing or taking target locks. Finally, playing a falconless rebel synergy list is paying off!

I got my Wave 3 stuff yesterday and discovered that I have already outgrown the Plano case I have (if I remove the pilot cards which I need to do anyway I can fit everything except the shuttle).

The HWK looks like a lot of fun, I'm glad it's cheap. Not sure if I want to pick up a second B-Wing (very likely) or TIE Bomber (undecided).

Seems like I won't be getting wave 3 here in Canada until the end of the month if I am to believe the release date I just checked on the website I have me per-ordered.

Yeah I need to check for some storage solution myself. Right no, I have everything in my 2 core set box but its a plain and there is no way I can get the wave 1 stuff I still need (y-wing and tie advanced) and my wave 3 coming in.

Checked some Plano case around here but can't find a selection as interesting as in the us. I went to a home hardware kind of place and the closest thing that could look like it could do the work are tool box with multiple compartment but we are talking about 40$ +

I recently bought a dude's X-Wing/Star Wars LCG lot from him and he had his X-Wing stuff in this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Molding-5231-Double-Organizer/dp/B000HJ9514/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1379301702&sr=8-11&keywords=plano+case

Here are some shots of it in action:
    plano2_zps3dc5a680.jpg
    plano1_zpsf917ae6f.jpg

He has random foam packed into the spaces to keep the ships safe. I'm tempted to buy another one, which should allow me to transport basically all my stuff and not have to use my current 4x smaller plano cases + core box to lug everything around.

  • TomantaTomanta Registered User regular
That's the case I currently have. It's worked so far, but long term I don't think it is going to so I want to find another solution. Maybe pluck foam since I can customize that as new expansions come out.

  • GuibsGuibs Weekend Warrior Somewhere up North.Registered User regular
Yeah I was aware of that plano case but with Wave 3 coming out this month, I doubt it will be big enough. I have 2 b-wing, tie-bomber and one of the HWK-290 and lambda coming in on top of my wave 1 and 2 so I doubt this will be big enough unless, like you said, you go for 2 of them. In an ideal work, being able to keep the original insert for the ship which seems good enough for protection (but granted, take lots of space, could probably be trim down a bit) would be ideal.

Man, I donno about that. I really don't need 2 more Tie Interceptors. I'd rather they just did Print on Demand pilot and upgrade packs at this point. This feels like the definitive shift from offering a solid product at a decent price, to exploitatively getting you to dump your money into the same thing over and over again.

  • SeGaTaiSeGaTai Registered User regular
I'm now in the opposite boat where I missed on on Tie Interceptors in their first run and was waiting on cash to get more now that their available. Knowing this is coming out in the future though I might just skip picking up any of the currently available inteceptors.

Yeah I am in the same boat. I think it is great for people that didn't get to pick up the interceptor yet. Of course if you picked up multiples of the interceptor already, it's not so great. Although this does answer the question of what they're going to do next. Clearly they're going to do elite versions of already existing fighters.

It's hard to tell but pretty much all the pilots and expansion cards included look new. The only thing repeated i can see is the Saber Squadron pilot, who is just your generic guy for these ships. None of the higher ranked pilot cards match up with anything we've seen before, and I can't get a great look at the secondary weapons and such but I don't recognize them- except i think there are two shield upgrade cards and one Push the Limit in there.

It's not as exciting as a 100% new model, i guess? But it's gonna play like one and add a bunch of fun options to a ship that Empire players probably didn't have. I'm kind of jealous.

where the hell is my elite pilot y-wing, you jerks

I use that above Plano and it is working great, but fitting the Lambda AND the Slave I in it while still having enough padding is pretty much a bitch.

I think I'm going to buy one of those $20 PACKS foam trays I found on FFG's forums. The cases are absurdly expensive, but pre-cut foam sized for my size of pieces sounds just about right.

not sure how I feel about the new tie interceptor. The paint job looks great but I am not sure I want MORE tie interceptors. I already have 2 and not looking at add more. I wish they would just sale a pack of cards with new pilots but we all know that is not going to happen as it's more profitable for them to it this way.

It fits, though. I mean, we all knew variants were coming eventually, and these are the two most iconic Interceptor squads out there. (They're also the only ones that have had Hasbro toys made of them, if that is any indication).

Really, it is kind of a win-win, and Interceptors should be one of those mainstays of your fleet. But we'll see what they choose for the rebel flavor of this.

Some of the custom paint jobs that the Rogue pilots use in the 4th Rogue novel would be awesome. I think one of them paints it up to look like a Krayt dragon.

I'm happy to see some new pilots for the old ships. I always get a little bit sad when I look at my pilot pages and see how I have (relatively) few pilot options for any ship other than an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter. I think having the different color Interceptors will also help me keep better track visually of who's who.

The even awesomer news is that this isn't Wave 4. Even cooler is that the line is so successful now that FFG can break out of the Wave releases a bit to have some single product releases.

Also, that mission totally sounds like a teaser for a TIE Defender release in Wave 4.

In other news, finally got to get two full games in tonight rather than do demos. I had 2x B-Wings in each list, each with a Heavy Laser Cannon. I'm really liking that little combo. Ibtisam is a lot of fun too!

With the imperial aces set I wonder if they will have a rogue squadron set as well but then is this the wave 4? since some of the rumoured ships are bleh for me

I might get a few more interceptors and do a few custom paint jobs

How big is the Lambda class shuttle? a rough size would help as I do have to get a case for it

It's not Wave 4. I'm thinking FFG would be releasing them with a lot more hype and fanfare if it were. This is just an appetizer to tide us over.

Yeah this seems more like a bonus set than anything else- interceptors are a pretty popular ship, so here's some more stuff for them. It also might be to counterbalance the upcoming big ship releases, since they're both rebel stuff.

I'm gonna be cynical and guess we won't see any new x-wing pilots or sets outside of the rebel transport ship- that's supposed to come with four new x-wing pilot cards, and I don't think the transport's a popular enough design that people would buy it if they could get that stuff elsewhere. Maybe later, but I don't see it happening yet.

Nah, my first list was Horton in a Y-Wing, Ibtisam, and a Blue Squadron B-Wing. The other player fielded a shuttle with two TIE Bombers (one was Rhymer, other was one of the generics). I managed to take out the Bombers with some lucky rolls from the HLC.

My second list had 2 Blue Squadron B's, one Gold Y, and one Prototype A. My opponent flew a shuttle, Fel, and Soontir. This game was a LOT closer. Once again, some lucky dice rolling really helped out. I have to give credit to the A-Wing and the Y-Wing for somehow managing to take out Fel at the end, despite the fact that both were pretty close to destruction.

    I haven't played since wave 1 and I still just have 3x x wings, 4x tie fighters, 1x y wing, 1x tie advance.

It was the sneak preview shots of tie interceptors that actually sold me on the game originally so I took the plunge impulsively today: 2x tie interceptors, 1x A wing, 1x kyle katarn, 1x lambda shuttle. And a plano case.

I have no idea how soon I'll actually get to use them, but aesthetically all I want to do is fly a stately Lambda Shuttle around with its escort of TIE Interceptors and a few TIE Fighters.

I'm interested in this TIE Aces release that's coming, even though it ruins the delicious grayscale vibe of the Empire. I have an irrational love of the TIE Interceptor ship. >_>

Man, I already own 5 TIE Interceptors, but I will be buying 4 sets of that Imperial Aces pack to be able to field Saber Squadron in their proper ships, and to be able to run a mission with a Lambda + 4 Royal Guards as the Rebels get their chance to take out the Emperor. :P Plus, I had honestly never seen those Emperor's Guard Interceptors before, but I totally dig the full on red paint job, so I want them regardless.

Just placed my order for Wave 3, finally. Didn't expect it to all be in stock, honestly. Either they upped quantities for Wave 3, or Bombers and B-Wings aren't as popular as A-Wings and Interceptors.

    1x Lamda
    4x TIE Bombers
    1x HWK
    3x B-Wings

I was a little iffy on the HWK, honestly, because it just doesn't mesh with any of the other designs (I think its the color, honestly), but, I figured for the new turret and mission and the option for some support, it was worth the $12.

Really I am not going to get the HWK since the Lambda can work for either side
I have 3 interceptors and will get the aces pack

I am playing on a 1M squared table so I am not going to field a large force

My B wing came all messed up when they glued it together so I was rather surprised it popped apart with ease to fix this

I will probally get another A wing since I can use them as herders into the B wing's guns

  • AthenorAthenor Battle Hardened Optimist The Skies of HiigaraRegistered User regular
Umm... How the hell can the lambda work for any side? Its dial is imperial, its pilots are all imperial, its Title card is imperial...

That foam tray looks pretty good, but not in a configuration I would 100% use (I only want one HWK, but I may want a second Firespray, for example...).

I think at this point I'll either get a custom Battlefoam tray to fit what I have or just get pluck foam and make my own, then use the Plano box for new stuff until it fills up again. I'm not as worried about these minis getting damaged as I am about my other stuff, I just want something to keep the game organized and easy to transport.

  • AthenorAthenor Battle Hardened Optimist The Skies of HiigaraRegistered User regular
I'm more paranoid about these - lots of small bits that could snap. But yeah, the pluck foam would likely work best, or look into the wave 3 trays they have.
