So, Just finished another night of X-wing, and we had 14 people prepping for a tournament that is happening on sat at our game store. so many new YT's and decimators, so this is the build I'm thinking of using to take advantage of the 2 ship builds that look to be popular.
100 points
Pilots
Blue Squadron Pilot (28) x 2
B-Wing (22), Ion Cannon (3), B-Wing/E2 (1), Tactician (2)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (15)
Z-95 Headhunter (12), Ion Pulse Missiles (3)
so double stress and double ion, I played 3 matches, losing one poorly to another B-win ion list, and then wining against dash, and corran horn lists. It definitely forces people into some tough decisions, but if I lose a ship other than the bandit I think the build starts to loose cohesion. Anybody want to break it down and see maybe some other substitutions I could make?
If I can't decide this I might join in and roll with a decimator list.
I chickened out at the last minute - had to take care of RL stuff and did not manage to connect with Rend before the end of the week.
- I ought to have a free evening this week. Who do I play?

Those TIE-Interceptors sure are scary. Few times I thought you had me pretty good, but thanks to "tactical" bumping I was able to come out mostly ok.
I am very much in love with Outrider and HLC. That basically did all of the damages once I was able to get TLs rolling.
Also this happened:
Ingram flew Soontir in to block (or to allow me to overshoot and put myself in range 1 of both Interceptors), but it was just slightly off. I was able to squeeze in there, by pure luck based on how the asteroid is shaped. I wasn't able to finish off the Royal Guard, but shortly after Ingram conceded the match

Yeah the subscript for tactical bumping reads "just because it's not on purpose doesn't mean it's not effective"
Yeah that round if fel got to range 1 was my best bet to strip the last of dash's shields and put some to the hull. (Realizing now you could have taken out the weakened royal to skip his attack) Don't chase those dreams kiddies.
Great game tho.
Over the weekend I managed a real-world game with Autoblaster Dash.
I don't remember exactly how many TIEs he exterminated but it was more than five.
I found reasons to barrel roll every single turn for the entire game....
he pretty desperately needs Veteran Instincts and to have someone passing him tokens.
Ion Outrider is worth a closer look as well.

Aye, I'm tooling around with the idea of something like this (not that it matters, since I don't have an Autoblaster card yet):
Or maybe replace Dreis with Biggs Darklighter, remove Veteran Instincts from Dash, and throw R2-F2 onto Biggs and then use Biggs to prevent Katarn from getting insta-gibbed.
EDIT: Nevermind, thought Biggs was a point cheaper than he was. Dang.

found what looks to be a nice set of foam trays and a case for X-wing
I have that exact case @webguy20, I use it for a mix of warmachine and X-wing. It doesn't fit as much as I thought it would but its pretty nice otherwise.
EDIT: and the warmachine stuff takes up a TON of room, so it might be better if its just X-wing stuff going in it.
For those who might have missed it, I was @Stationary secret santa this year. I created, and printed, a custom X-Wing pilot card for him.
Why does it look like V-19's flying behind him?
It's because there are V-19's behind him....well, for a few seconds until:
Since the original Clone Wars was done by Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, the art styles are similar. So I found that space scene in Clone Wars and Photoshopped Jack's head over Anakin's head. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that overlapped perfectly and ended up having to cheat his head into the frame a bit. If you look closely, you can see the head gear isn't laying right across Jack's forehead.

To be honest, I had assumed that GT had inserted Samurai Jack as an Easter egg into the clone wars shorts for a scene and you had screen captured it. Art styles really fit together nicely.
If he had, he'd probably have had to give him a Star Wars name though, one with extra punctuation or an odd cadence, to fit the setting. Maybe Samu Ry'Jack or something.
I don't know if Genndy would do that though, but it certainly sounds like the kind of thing that I'd do in his position.
Obviously, I would need something else to compensate
So moving THROUGH ships means the template has to overlap another ship and has to fully clear it, right? Seems like it might be hard to do it with such a high PS, unless your opponent is purposefully trying to block and misjudges

yea I would think you would have to really be able to gauge your opponents moves, or use it on larger ships.

Applause and high-fives to @TehSloth for a fantastic match of X-Wing! He brought waaaaay more Rebels than I did (and they had missiles!), but, in the end, Tycho Celchu is the Rebeliest Rebel that ever rebelled, and the speed junkies of Green Squadron were able to defeat Sloth's E-Z Swarm.
Having basically worked out how to fly the squad I started the league with, I changed it up a bit this time and went with some ridiculously maneuverable A-Wings: Tycho, Sojan, and two unnamed Green Squadron pilots. I basically wanted to fly something that would force me to be very, very careful with my turn planning, because getting on enemy's tails and staying there was going to be the only way this list could put out the hurt.
It ... mostly? ... worked, and I was able to force several rounds where Sloth just didn't have any shots, or where his best shot was a range 3 at a dodging A-Wing. Still need to practice more with it, as the epic 9-ship pile-up on Round 3 can attest to. I'll definitely be tweaking this one - Elusiveness really didn't add much to Tycho, and, on reviewing the game, he spent most of the "critical" time running around with multiple stress tokens (no Koiogran turns for you, sir!), so he would rarely have been able to use it, anyway.
Both sides got some absolutely fantastic dice rolls in clutch situations, R2-D2 did yeoman work for Etahn (+4 or +5 extra shields over the course of the game, including regenning a shield hit Etahn took when he bounced off an asteroid in the early going). For a portion of the middle of the match, Gemmer Sojan's Stealth Device kicked into overdrive, actually hiding the A-Wing from Sloth's screen (though, like, two moves later he reappeared for similarly mysterious reasons).
MVP, though, goes to Tycho Celchu, who scored, IIRC, 3 of the 5 kills for my team, including a shot at the buzzer as he whipped around an asteroid, boosted into range of the last Bandit Squadron pilot (who had just moments before dodged an asteroid that would have killed him) and had previously survived two rounds of fire from Tycho and Sojan, and barely winged him for 1 damage.
Fantastic game, and good luck with the rest of the league!
There are four (FOUR!) X-Wing tournaments between the 2 local CoolStuffGames locations coming in the next month. I need to figure out which, if any, I want to go to. Two of them are free, and one of the free ones is an FFG tournament (I think they're doing Diskwars too?), so I'm inclined to do that, though turnout is likely to be much higher at the free ones since the store is that much bigger.
I'll have to work on a squad for the tournament(s) and hopefully perform a bit better than I did last time.

The VT-49 Decimator and the YT-2400 Outrider are on sale at Coolstuffinc for $23 and $17, respectively.
Pretty good!
Hmmm, I'm probably gonna be in the area this weekend, I'll have to see if I can buy em now and hold em till saturday
Keep in mind we will be next to the Winter Park store, not Maitland. Maitland is the main store, but you should be able to select Winter Park for the pickup location.
Also you guys have no idea how tempting it is to get that Decimator. It's almost painful
I haven't actually gotten to play X-Wing in forever. Those Cool Stuff deals are tempting, but I can't do it considering how little I've been playing. I'm only 10 minutes from the Maitland store so I should probably try to get in one of the tournaments. I get nervous playing people I don't know, especially since I've only played a handful of games.

Tournament nerves can be a thing.
Nothing to be nervous about though. X-wingers are some of the friendliest people I've ever met, as a general rule.
The current tournament pairing system is really good at matching people of like skill levels, too. If you're a new player, you'll tend to gravitate to playing against other new players.
I'm asking because the Tycho cards were put up for "Spring 2015 tournament," but I guess I don't know how far in advance those things have to get ordered.

You should definitely consider going. I am going to try to go to at least one, and I will also be trying to coerce @Stationary and @TehSloth into going as well. Also @Rend if he's around for the tourney on the 27th
The two Maitland ones are free and the two winter park require you to purchase a $10 ship to get it. Everyone I met at the November one was incredibly polite and fun to play with.

Took AutoRendar to a small local tournament tonight.
Three games. Basically... two modified wins on the clock and one loss.
Dash got bloodthirsty and approached a TIE swarm with perhaps more vitesse than was truly appropriate...
AutoRendar is fun and unique. It is civilization.
HLD is a boring cookie-cutter build for boring cookie-cutter barbarians.
That said...
Certain important-ish matchups might be fairly described as un-winnable-ish...
Like... there's nothing AutoDash can ever do to a VT-49.
I did have one mirror-match tonight.
AutoRendar & Keyan vs HLD & Corran.
It was a really interesting and tense match which went to time. I was up 1 point - I destroyed Corran and he killed Keyan.
The Dash vs. Dash matchup is an unbelievable amount of fun. You're trying to get into range 1 and he's trying to keep you out.... weaving in and out of the asteroid field... shots come down to tiny margins. It's really what the game is all about.
