I keep losing close quarter fights where i have a shotgun andnshoot first. I feel like i should have big downloads going in the background of my xbox, and a show marathoning on netflix on my ps4. Then maybe my connection would be shit enough to do well in cod...

It's not just you. I have a solid connection without anything else running and the lag comp is killing my enjoyment of the game.

If you go to IW Reddit the whole front page is filled with posts about lag comp.

This is the number one reason I've decided to skip this game, none of these CoD developers have decided that improving their net code is worth the time.

It is pretty much unplayable with my good internet connection. Luckily I was really only interested in the campaign and zombies. I have Titanfall for my wall-running, double-jumping multiplayer with robots.

Granted I haven't played CoD multi since the first Black Ops. Maybe it was always like this and I've been spoiled by other games in the interim?

Yeah I was listening to my brothers play all day and they kept complaining about lag.

I've been playing on the Xbox One and I get some pretty severe framerate drops I can only attribute to the connection. Things just slow down and skip for a good ten seconds or so. I don't think I've seen the same issue in Modern Warfare, but I haven't played as much of that yet to be sure.

I only see occasional connection issues, the majority of the time things are fine. So, for me at least, I'd say those issues have a lot more to do with lack of dedicated servers and just having shit connections to the host from time to time with the peer-to-peer matchmaking. When it happens, I quit out and find a new match. It's been working well for me so far.

MP menus don't seem to be very cooperative for me from time to time. Hangs every now and then (pretty sure it's for players dropping in and out), but every now and then the menus just kinda freak out on me.

Hmmmm, I dont think mw is a very good COD by todays standards. Far to imbalanced with to much bullshit.

  • MechanicalMechanical Registered User regular
I feel like the fact that these two are part of the same package kinda drives home just how different these really have gotten over the years. You can see a lot of the old skeleton but it's a damn sight different than it was nine years ago. Also good god is the mantle system in MW hot garbage compared to just about every iteration afterwards. Might as well just walk around with how long it takes, if you even hit the ledge right.

The Stryker rig's black hole gun is pretty hilarious. So far I think I preferred the Specialists system from Blops 3 to Rigs by a wide margin, but that gun is highly amusing.

Anyone playing Remastered on the PC: have you noticed that the multiplayer appears capped at 90 frames? The single player campaign doesn't appear to be, but according to FRAPS I seem to hit 90 then just stop.

The Specialists had personality, Rigs go back to the silent generic CoD grunts of old. I do prefer the Rig Payloads though. Namely, The Claw and The Eraser. Hated The Eraser in the beta because it kept killing me, and I didn't realize it was a payload... Still not convinced they nerfed snipers, but the shotgun buff is real(when you're graced with a good connection). I got the reaver to rank 6 in one frontline match!

I assume character levels and weapon levels will slow down once they switch off double XP. I hope it doesn't slow down key gain rates, though. I was getting 3 to 4 keys per match which is ok I guess. 10 salvage as a daily sign in bonus is a joke, however...

Tangentially, double XP has been super satisfying in Black Ops 3. It's improved the unlock rate to the point where it hardly feels like I'm grinding for anything and cryptokeys, levels, guns and attachments are drip-fed really constantly.

It feels great, if only the original XP rate was this satisfying.

Picked it up yesterday, and I'm just not feeling it this iteration. I don't know if it's because I'm really enjoying Titanfall 2 and this seems slower, or the network connection issues, or the fact that I prefer current warfare themes more than space warfare, but I couldn't help but be disappointed.

Happy for all of you that are enjoying and having fun with it, but I think I'll be selling this one while I can still get a good chunk of my monies back.

Man, reading reviews and your guys' comments

Blops3 was my first cod and I liked it a lot -- first game I really put time into multi in years and I liked making my character dude in campaign bro-op

But the feedback I'm hearing about this makes me pretty uncertain

I thought TTK in blops3 was terse but fair and satisfying

I bought ghosts on sale and tried some campaign and bot matches and the TTK was just beyond some threshold were I couldn't get into it

I like the idea of this game but it sounds really iffy -- i feel like I should just buy it someday on sale and play through the campaign

I built a beefy new PC and picked up blops2 on a whim and it seems pretty decent (and the creamy PC frame rate and reduction are nice)

Maybe I should just skip this for now and play blops2? Or is the remastered MW worth buying?

The NV4 is way to prevalent in MP - could use a substantial nerf to hip fire

    Never nerf space M4.

The MW remaster's MP has the same latency-related issues as IW's MP. They are both unplayable if you have a good internet connection (disclaimer: I have only played on PS4). If you are only interested in MP, wait until they can get things sorted out. Or just buy Titanfall 2; it's excellent.

I'm enjoying IW's campaign a LOT more than I though I would. It lacks the punch and heart of Titanfall 2's but that's not really what it's going for and what it does seem to be going for it manages very, very well. The MW:R campaign is the same, but prettier (which is absolutely a good thing). I do not regret paying $80 for the campaigns.

And if it seems like I'm shilling Titanfall 2; I am. I came into both of these titles with a huge bias against both of them and while I like them both, the one that absolutely knocks 'futuristic CoD' out of the park is Titanfall.

You can get a black hole gun! And black hole grenades! What more do you want?

The peer-to-peer matchmaking can be frustrating at times, but that's how it has always been for CoD. It hasn't been any worse than usual for me. The Rigs have less personality than Specialists did, and the Mission Team system feels a bit tedious and pointless, but neither have a major impact on things.

All in all it feels like a typical yearly CoD update to me. I haven't found any maps I really love yet, but I don't hate any either. The only major change to things that I'd really like to see is that quickscoping clearly hasn't been toned down like it was supposed to be, and is worse than it has been in a number of years. Heck, it's worse now than it was in the beta for me. Still having fun though, and looking forward to grouping up with some of the other PS4 players later to play more objective modes.

MWR is still a pretty great campaign, unless you're playing on Veteran for the back half of the story. Then it's fit for masochists and people that like seeing how many grenades they can throw back at a hall of angry Russians.

I remember that! That's me, I am the masochist. Only once, though, and never again.

DId they adjust the enemy AI so they don't just constantly spawn on some levels before you reach a certain location in the area?

I'm gonna wait and see of they're still playing around Thanksgiving and if not I'll pass.

The change I enjoy most is having health bars above characters. Now I won't stop shooting because I thought I drilled them enough to kill them, only to die due to my pause!

Nope. Baddies still come equipped with InfiniSpawn™ technology. Mad dashing to the magic checkpoint spots to stop them is still the name of the game. Still a fun tense time on lower difficulties!

What you really need to do, Brian, is play the first Black Ops. It's the best COD and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

I sincerely hope that the next cod will be set in a time period without fucking jump packs. Christ I'm sick of this bullshit.

    I like Black Ops!

I think it's batshit stupid, but I respect its willingness to play on the intrigue of a real-life time period, as opposed to, well, almost every CoD that came after
Also, JFK's deadpan reaction to zombies.

I want the Korean war as a CoD (or CoD clone) game.

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

I'm also enjoying it quite a bit, but I would like a CoD without jetpacks again at some point. The only deaths that really frustrate me involve guys flying around corners or out of buildings at unexpected heights and killing me before I can even line up a shot while they basically dance back and forth in the air.

The Stryker rig took a while to grow on me, but man the traits for it are awesome. Persistent landmines and cryo traps? Yes please. The Micro Turret is also a better turret than the Shock Sentry in HC since it's got a full 360 degree detection area.

It's weird because you seem to be talking positively about the Stryker rig but you haven't mentioned the BLACK HOLE GUN...

  • MechanicalMechanical Registered User regular
Oh, it's fun. Just takes forever to charge for comparatively lower payout in the modes I play.

  • KetarKetar Come on upstairs we're having a partyRegistered User regular
Don't get me wrong, the black hole gun isn't all that great. It does take a while to charge, and you have to be more accurate than you would think for a damn black hole.

BUT IT'S A FREAKING BLACK HOLE GUN

...and when it works, it is by far the most amusing thing in this game for me. Watching guys spiraling off into the black hole never gets old. For visual flair, it is the absolute tops.

Borderline unplayable tonight on xbone... so much lag :(

Kept unloading bullets into folks, only to have then turn and kill me instead. I'm starting to play titanfall a lot more now. It's way less frustrating =/
